View Full Version : SC&C/Spohn Adj. Rear Swaybar is done!

It`s finally done! 3 years ago we set out to design a rear swaybar for A and G body GM cars that was properly mounted and adjustable. By properly mounted I mean NOT to the lower arms. Mounting them with links to the chassis has many advantages such as reducing non linear binding when the suspension articulates and allowing much higher effective bar rates with smaller dia. (read lighter) bars. We finally have it how we want it with great ground and exhaust clearance and soft/med/firm rates to tune the suspension. They`ll be shipping the first week in January and all the folks who have expressed an interest or put in pre orders will get the first of them. Is the bar meant to be used in conjunction with the Watts Link or does
it work with the stock suspension as well.

it works with stock, but doesnt interfere with the watts.. you will also notice that the hump in the middle to clear the centersection passes behind the center instead of underneath it... (the so called cat-catcher) so you have more roadclearance that with stock stule rear bars also.. .. and another big problem with stock style swaybars is that when you run non OEM arms they dont fit between the arms as the arms (atleast my currie ones) are beefier.. so the stock swaybar is too wide...

We actually designed the grand daddy of this new bar specifically for our 3 link car which we were running with a lower than stock rear roll center. We needed more bar rate than we could get out of an OE style bar without binding up the rear suspension. That cars now runs and watts and the same adj. rear bar. Our Stage 2 car has been running the C4L rear suspension with the watts and adj. bar for a few thousand miles now. The adjustability in both systems allowed us to dial the car is just how we wanted it (and of course we`re happy to pass those tips along to our clients so there`s no guesswork) and the car is just so planted, predictable and linear that you`d swear we much have replaced the whole rear suspension. Now you can drive the car 10/10ths (or even 11/10ths!) and it just will not bite you a stark contrast to the rear suspensions normal twitchy schitzo behavior. The watts and PT bar are made to work together on stock axles. Guys with wide center (circle track) 9" rears will have to run different axle clamps for the watts (just ask when you order) and grind the inner side of the PT bar`s saddle brackets. All in all maybe an extra 1/2 hour for the install. Mark SC&C

We`ll have installed pics in a few days. PT adj. bars started shipping yesterday. Production colors are red or black. If you had a pre order in from long ago give us a call and remind us you still want one so we don`t leave you out by accident. :) Mark SC&C
