I thought I'd post this up here to help get the word out about the new 5th Gen Nickey Camaros that will be available very soon. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Stefano Bimbi and Dennis Barker on their new 5th Gen Concept. They had seen some of my work in Popular Hot Rodding and decided they wanted to work with me on their Nickey Camaro - special thanks to Steve Rupp for forwarding my contact info over! For now I worked with them closely in dialing in the details on the rendering. Once they have a car I will also be working directly with Stefano, Dennis, and the prototype/tooling development company in dialing in the composite parts. Anyways, here's a little from info on their Camaros from Mr. Bimbi on the direction of the Nickey Camaros.

We are proud to be offering 2010 Nickey Camaros, based on the 5th Generation Platform.

All of the details are not set in stone, at this time, as this is a work in progress.

However; We do have most of the details for the Stage I, Stage II and Stage III Conversion Packages dialed in.

Stage I: Mild Modifications to the Stock LS3

Stage II: Completely reworked LS3, (Stock V8 used in the Camaro).

Stage III: This is a complete new/different LS7 427ci transplant.

We have established a Dealer Network, in order to fulfill Customer Orders, in one of two ways.

We have dealers who feel confident that they will promptly receive Camaro inventory for Stock; Method One, will be from off their showroom Floors.

These dealers will at some point, in the future have Nickey Camaros in stock and ready for delivery.

The second Method is that you will be able to place a SOLD order, through one of these Dealers and then have your car built to your specs, off the Nickey Option Sheets.

We will be anouncing all the participating Network Dealers and will also list the specs and pricing, as soon as we have them available.

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions. I will do my best to answer them.

Regards,
Stefano Bimbi
CEO Nickey Chicago, Inc.

That's awesome. Congratulations!
The only thing I can say I'm not completely sold on is the "Nickey" badge where the bowtie should be. Other than that I think it's great. I wouldn't have thought of it before, but that scoop looks at home on the car.

From what I hear, more details pertaining to engine options may be announced this weekend at Chevy Vettefest in Chicago.

I like it but I thought the K under the hockey stick stripe should be facing the other way like the others. Mustang has come out with a bunch of special editions, it would be nice to see some "new modern" Yenkos, COPOs, Bergers & Nickey Camaros.

WOW!!! Not crazy about the nickey logo in the grill, like someone said in a previous post.
That would be awesome. When would we know if/when these beasts will be available? Can you walk into any Chevy dealership and place an order on one with any option you wanted?
As far as drivetrain, will there be a 6 speed manual tranny and a LS7 engine combo, ( which I would assume.)?
There was a write up on this on www.supercarregistry.com as well, which I had read in full.
Sorry about so may questions, just eager to know more about this. THANKS!!

Unfortunately, that is highly unlikely for a variety of reasons...

hopefully they'll throw one in there, and bring it back as the z/28. I've been toying around with the idea of getting an SS and throwing a whipple or a magnacharger on it. Have to wait and see. I'd rather wait for the LS7

Yeah, I hope the Nickey Camaro, if being built, will an LS7, all natural aspirated.
We can only sit back and wait!!!:willy:

Wegner Motorsports will be supplying the horsepower for some, if not all of the 5th gen Nickey cars. They are an innovator in LS performance and highly regarded in the stock car world. They are the builder of my stuff as well as the 427 LS in John Parsons' II Much.

Carl Wegner is a 35+ year friend of my family so I am excited to see him involved in this project.

Looks, and sounds great Stefano! Can you give us an idea about what to expect in terms of rear wheel width and tire size? Are minitubs possible or no? Thanks.

I bet Stage III will be over $75k. Top tier options will be equal to, or more than, the sticker price of the car.

How much did the 2002 ZL1 Phase III Camaros list for?

Yes, it was indeed 'Camaro Performers'.

We are very proud to have John as part of the team. I was getting very frustrated trying to explain what a "Stinger" hood should look like.

It was very refreshing to speak and work with someone who does actually "get it" and can meet a dead line as well:hail:

Mostly at Blackhawk with Midwest Council. Also run Autobahn and Road America most years. Cheap fun.

We decided to keep the Nickey Script emblem as they were used on the original First Generation Camaros. The "K" was not backwards on the emblem.

All of the Nickey Camaro Stages will be hand built. Definitely a Limited Edition proposition. The project will also be limited by availability of the actual cars.

All the Nickey Camaros will carry a Nickey Specific VIN and be registered in the Nickey Registry, Inc.

The Turbos work great, but most of our recent research and testing has been with Blown/Supercharged and Naturally aspirated engines.

We have no current plans to duplicate that specific Package/Camaro.

We will be more than happy to build one of our Nickey Stage II or III LS3 OR LS7 engines/packages which can used with a 4th Generation Camaro.

That car NEEEDS to be shot for Camaro Performers magazine the day after it's done, if not sooner....

We'll have more information soon regarding the current testing of our Stage 1 Nickey Super Camaro option.

Thus far:

Full LT Header and exhuast system.

Full Tune and Computer mapping

This Combination has yielded an increase of more than 50hp and 45tq as measured at the rear wheels!

Interesting to see the exhaust getting good gains. I expected it would flow pretty good from the factory and only yield small 5-8 rwhp gains based on results out of the G8 GT camp. The G8 exhaust seems to flow well and yield only small gains with upgrades. Good news for the Camaro aftermarket though :D .

Can't wait to hear more. Aftermarket is really jumping on this thing.

Nickey Chicago

The results we have seen with G8s using long tube headers, a complete performance exhaust and a proper tune have attained results much greater than what you have seen/experienced?
