installed lincoln mark VIII fan in 67 camaro but still have o.e. spec alternator, read somewhere fan requires at least 130 amp but cant afford any high dollar powermaster what alternatives do i have looking for something priced below 100 or can i pick one out the wrecking yard any help would be appreciated.
Seek out M.A.D. Enterprises on the web and they have a great guide on choosing a GM 12SI or 10SI alternator - these work great, come in various configurations, and are lifetime warrantied at auto parts stores.

Check my website.
If you have an early external regulator it will need to be removed and a bit of rewiring done, but it's an afternoon project.

Both MAD and Carl's sites are godd for this. The MAD site covers the SI as well as CS series alternators. The SI ar the easier conversions but the CS are the newer higher output style in stock form.
The MK VIII does not use 130 Amps. Some LARGE dual setups can use 90+ amps when both switch on toward full speed at the same time, but normal operating is around 40 for the MK VIII. THis is where a variable speed controller comes in handy as it softens the hit coming on and really tempers the cooling system while drawing much less power overall than a straight wired fan.
