Anyone heard of bead/sand blasting PP and flywheel?

Okay, I heard of an old racer's trick and wanted to see if any of you have heard of it or used it.

So apparently if you either bead blast or sand blast (not sure which one) your pressure plate and flywheel it can help the clutch seat much much quicker than say waiting for a 500 miles break-in. And apparently there isn't any bad side effects.

So, does this work?

It may break in faster but I don't think it will have as much bite. The smoother the surface is, the more area the clutch has to grab. Similar to brakes.

Hmm.. I would think if it was truly a "racer's trick" then the bite would be very important!

I can tell you after installing my clutch today....the flywheel is smooth as glass and the pressure plate is a little course.

You shoulda bead or sand blasted them both before installing so you could tell me if this trick works! :D

Well it works flawless so I don't mess with it.:D Just put the clutch in it and forget it. It's just not that fun pulling a tranny out on jack stands. haha

Yeah I am sure I won't try this "trick" unless I find 10 reputable guys saying it is a great thing to do. Just wondering if anyone else heard of it....

Just make shure you get the protective coating of the pressure plate.
