I have been stalking the forum's for quite a while and finally decided to get on board. For nearly 6 months I have been tearing down my 69 Camero and just got it on the rotisserie tonight. The current plan it to roll the widest tires that I can with out tubbing, with quality brakes, steering and suspension. Already have an LS1 that am planning on carburating with a hot cam and lots of head work. Have not decided on the brakes and suspension among many other items. Any input would be appreciated.

whoa! i didnt know people up in boulder even knew what pro-touring was.lol
as far as brakes and suspension go whats your budget?
and if you already have it on a rotis. why not just minitub it? on a 69 275 is really the safest you can go.
ps. its camAro

Thanks for all the quick motovational feedback. My proposed build intent does have budget considerstions (It will probbaly be way over budget that I dont have:faint: ) I dont plan on serious track days, more for the ride and power of late model performance car with the interior of Lexus or Benz. From what I had read so far on rear tire width I had thought I could squeeze 295's in a stock wheel well. If 275 is it, I may need to reconsider the tubs. I'm planning on keeping the stock front clip but changing out the upper control arms and possibly the lowers. Will I really gain that much out of changing the lower arms? If I change the lower arms than I would diffinetly go coil overs. Planning on getting the front clip blasted and powdered within the next week, and ordering the front end parts. Still up in the air over sand, media, soda or chemical dip for the body. I have a good price oppurtinity with the soda and think that I understand the post prep required. Sugestions? Last question. Whats proper posting ettiquette, should I start seperate threads for each question? This is of course after I search to my wits end for the answers in existing threads. Thanks again for the welcome wagon.

lets see...
with questions yes start new threads in apropriate section but like you mentioned first SEARCH to see if you can find the answer like that.
as far as the front subframe goes, i would clean up the frame(ie:grind off all the factory splatter) before you send it off to get coated. and if your looking for the best performance for the least $$$ do uppers,AFX spindles,del-alum bushing in your factory lowers, stiffer springs and good shocks you can either go with normal sized coils and cut them for the desired height or get a coil-over type spring and spring adjuster. you got the idea right with the lowers some companys claim thiers do help with suspension geometry but its no where near as signifigant as uppers. they may be stronger, lighter and look better though.
i would give tyler from ATS a call (245-6305) about your need he will definatly help you out and hes the seller/designer of the AFX spindles.
you can find the link to his web page on the left of the page on the sponsors list.

We chemical strip the bodies and sandblast all the rusty areas, along with the hard areas that cannot warp and are hard to sand prep like jams, inner doors, edges, window channel, wheel opening lips. The sand gives a killer etch and this makes for great adhesion in areas that want to peel.
As for your suspension. If you have a couple grand in your budget for rear suspension, look into one of the many 4 links we carry. On the front, weather you do uppers only or uppers and lowers, think about a conventional coil spring (like Hotchkis) and a good shock. Forget the coil over, especially if you want good ride. You need some spring up there, that little coneical spring on the coil over conversion just does not do it.
As for your questions, you can keep them in one post so there is not a 100 post to keep up with.

Welcome! Glad you joined!!
We have sub-forums for tech help, if you have a suspension question place it in the suspension forum, it will help you get an answer faster.
But as stated earlier, use the search option first....
Again welcome!!
