Okay...anybody keeping up with www.projectr517.com....check this out.
We are now in phase II. We moved the car from the original tear down location and early cut/weld to my shop. One of our build crew snapped these as we were moving it and rolling it down the road.
Now....the clock is ticking. Our annual show is 11/8. Our goal is to have this baby sitting on the wheels. How???? I don't know...but Lord willing between taking a couple of days off next week and working hard this Saturday it will be down on the ground.
Should have a set of Touring Classiics 5th Gen Vette brakes adapters soon. Speaking of Vette Brakes...they donated the rear fiberglass springs, sway bars...etc. National Parts Depot has been AWESOME!

Only a handful...but note that we are not talking about functional....just able to roll. The subframe is done and only needs to be bolted in. The rear body will take the most time welding it up, seam sealing, painting, then getting the axle in.
That's all we want is the rolling shell by 11/8 - THRASH...you bet!
Now...If Foose would just show up with 50 of his friends, we'd be driving it by 11/8 ! LOL
11/8 :faint: If overhaulin can do you can do it:willy:

So let it be written...so let it be done!
Okay...seriously....we made it. I picked up the doors last night. An ex-body shop owner that is part of our group whiped them into shape while the other work was progressing. Fenders are 90% and will be finshed after bolting to the car.
The goal was to get it on all fours by 11/8/08. Tonight will be a long night getting the doors and fenders rough hung. They will come back off, but need to be fitted at this time for final filling/sanding/prep work.
Over the last week we:
1. Finished welding and fitting the rear body including the trunk lid
2. cut and installed the new toe boards
3. Sectioned a complete left side rocker
4. Partial sectioned the right rocker
5. seam sealed the entire car - painted the floor/frame of the car
6. Installed the sub-frame
7. Cleaned, painted, installed the rear axle with the new VBP fiberglass springs and sway bar
8. Welded in the seat supports
9. Completed the door restoration
The touring classics parts came this week too. Well have the big brakes on teh front soon.
Scripture welded onto the car.... Isaiaha 28:16 (left rear frame rail)
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed.
- then 2 Corinthians 5:17 on the front frame cross member.
17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
More to come!

After a long night - Project R
made it to our annual show. It was a blast sharing it with others and seeing the reaction on people's faces that had seen it before when it was rotted through and through.
As a result of the show we picked up a new sponsor (Amsoil)...and even some cool new parts.
Again...Anybody out there that is interested in supporting this project...just give me a shout. These are tough economic times for the automotive enthusiasts...which is what makes this landmark even more special considering the uphill battle we have when doing such a project from donations and sponsorship.
