View Full Version : Some tips on shaving drip rails.

I'm getting my 69 fastback ready for paint and decided that I like the look of shaved drip rails. I have heard horror stories about the roof skin starting to delaminate from the structure when cutting off the rails.

Just looking for some tips or advice from someone who has done it. I know there is a black 1969 fastback on here that has them done, hopefully he finds this and lends some help.

Thank you all for your help!

Go SLOW and clean out all rust and crap before your try to weld. Cut the drip rail off about 2 inches at a time and weld up what you cut off before you move on.

Awesome, exactly the kind of advice that I was looking for.

What end should I start from? Should I cut it flush with the roof line or sneak up on it?

I really appreciate your help.

If your right handed start on the right and vice versa. Just seems easier that way, what ever is easier fo you.
