Hey guys, I just bought my first project car. Its a 65' biscayne with a 230 inline 6 and a three speed on the tree. Its got very very little rust. the motor runs alittle ruff, but hopefully it won't be in there to long. idk what im gonna do for a motor yet, you guys have any suggestions??

those are cool cars. LS is very possible, makes great power, very easily modded, great mileage, etc. but may or not fit your budget.

I really like those Biscaynes. What about a 496 stroker? If you get a good 454 block those can be built on a pretty reasonable budget and move that heavy beast down the road.
It's a Chevy with a roomy engine compartment so the only limit is your budget. Time to cruise craigslist and the junkyards. Like Jody said, an LS motor would be sweet and pretty easy and have been around long enough now that there's bound to be some deals. Others can chime in on this but what about an iron LS truck motor? Far cheaper than the aluminum car motors and more plentiful if you don't worry about what it looks like and the 6.0 makes around 350 hp bone stock. That's headers, a K&N filter and a computer flash from 425 hp.
If you want to go efi on a lower budget, shop for an LT1 from old cop cars, Camaros and Corvettes. Less hp and displacement but have lots of aftermarket support.
And just in case you haven't seen the Rad Rides Hurricayne, this is required reading

On suspension, Global West makes tubular control arms for them and Air Ride might have some stuff too.

I'd like to find an ls truck motor. I think it was phr that just bought a 5.3 motor for 800 bucks and there goin to do a buildup on it. If i could find a big block cheap enough i think that would be pretty cool. I'm open to all suggestions...
Thanks,
Bryce

Yep, that's a one-off Billet Specialties but since you asked, we have two different seven spoke designs that would look great on there. Don't ask me why Jon stacked them on Foose boxes to photograph them. HAHA
