These pics are much more representative of how it looks. Let me know what you think. It is still hard to see in pics, but there is no chrome or polished left on the exterior. It is a very subtle change, but took many hours, and I am very pleased with it. Bumpers, trim, etc have all been "brushed." I left a couple of polished pieces in the motor.

After reading some threads about cars on fire, I installed an extinguisher this weekend!

Looks great!! Smart addition with the fire extinguisher!! I know I'm probably being picky but I was faced with same problem with my last car with that style hood latch, It needs to be zinc washed silver. Once again - looks killer.

I had that same thought, but didn't know the solution. Can a chroming/plating shop do that, or who can zinc wash?

I think it looks great! But then again I'm a satin or machine look nut also. How much are those fire extinguishers? I need to get one.

Cool! That sounds like quite the project! I like the engine bay a lot better now, I'm not big on shinny stuff under the hood.
Do you have any close ups of the bumpers and grill...they still look kinda shinny in these pics. Was the chrome parts a bitch to do?

I don't know how to explain the bumpers in words. Yes, nearly impossible. And they don't really have a "brushed" look, just a "dull" look (you can see a lil difference between the rear trim and bumper. I haven't done the rear chrome trim yet) But anything that was hardened chrome, was more than tough. I don't know if I'm totally happy with bumpers. I actually used a palm sander with scotch brite. It's the only way I could get a consistent pattern in the chrome. It really just took the main shine off. It's nice cause the base plating still exists, so its still hard and will be easy to maintain. The verdict is still out as to whether I am pleased with the bumpers. I like it as its not a mirror finish anymore, but only time will tell. Very subtle, not mirror-like, but still some shine. My only other option would be to strip down to metal and powder coat or something (maybe zinc plate silver?)

Depending on the shop. Most "Chrome" shops plate more than just chrome and may be able to help you out. If not they could probably lead you in the right direction. Once again - looks great!!
Earlier I mentioned zinc washed - but meant cad plated.

Cant the bumpers be nickel plated like Kenny did on the Camaro?
I remember a blue 70 (?) Chevelle at SEMA last year that had that done to all the trim...looked killer!!

Any info you guys can get me on that would help. I will call a plating shop I've used tomorrow to study it out. That would be ideal. I just looked up Kenny D's camaro. Thats EXACTLY what I want. And here I thought I was being creative:rolleyes:

Wow. Everything looks great. I too prefer the industrial/satin theme everywhere!

Looks awesome. I loved the car before, but I like it better now. I am wanting to do a brushed look on all my trim also. Great job!

Very nice.. good way to make it "your car"
Love what you did with the engine bay...
Oh, and I'm happy to see that you didn't "cheap out" on the fire extinguisher.. if you ever have to use it you'll be glad you didn't bargain shop.
