The little blue bottle quickly found itself in good company... :_paranoid right between my Marquez door panels, the brakes for Chad's Challenger, the hoodpins Marty donated to CF-71, and Morris Classic Concepts' seatbelts!

I think Chad's going to need a bigger office soon!

Just heard from Kevin @ TIN INDIAN Performance!
... got rings cut last week and crank in. Need to install rear main seal and then check rod clearances. After that, it will be ready to go together for the last time... Cam bearings are in and cam "fitted".

Once the rods are clearanced this thing will fly together...

Work of art Chris....great work! Man, I'm gonna have to upgrade the rendering for Ty to make it live up to the high quality craftsmanship involved with the build.

I may need to sell the Camaro just so I can buy a Firebird to put those on.

Thanks Ben we will be offering these with and with out back up lights and we are working on all the lenses now. We will have a lens that is water proof so you wont get any spots on the inside or water in your housing. We have heard of a lot of people complaining about this on other products so we have worked on a very good solution. Pics will be coming very soon

Without the generosity of the vendors/sponsors and friends there's just no way this project would ever become reality!! :lateral:

I don't know about the lottery John, but I'm continually blown away by the outpouring of support this project has gotten! :hail:
One off parts built by the world's leading fabricators, custom paint and body, high level components and the list keeps growing!

If you have a paypal account I would be willing to donate a few dollars to the build up of this car to help you guy's pay your bills.

Since you are truely doing this for free.

Even if everyone give a couple bucks here or there I am sure it will help you out. I am in for the first $50.00

WE took this car on with TY's $2500 budget, most of which I have donated back to the actual parts fund. I was forced to spend a lot of time lately on a couple of other projects, but it was needed so I can guarantee my guys payroll for the next three months. I'll never ask anyone for anything else the support you guys have given is awesome. God will pay me back in another way, I'm confident in that. WE'll still have to raise money in a couple of months to get us to SEMA!!!

Also some breaking news about SEMA coming shortly!! I'll let out a little secret, big company, main building, main aisle, right next to GM!! Feature car for there booth!!!

As of today at 3:36 East Coast we have our designated SEMA spot for 2009!! It's been up in the air as to where we would actually be... knew we would be at SEMA with what looked like an outside spot. Well, a supporting company has come forward and offered a whole lot more!!!

WE will be one of two "Feature" cars in the Pypes Performance Exhaust (www.pypesexhaust.com) booth, located in the main hall center aisle right next to GM!! Lots of foot traffic and a GREAT area for the reveal for Ty on the first day of the show!

With the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational invite possible and now this, it has been one hell of a comforting week! I really see now the commitment of this community to help out someone that has commited most of their life to protecting and serving us.

And the other good thing is concessions is nearby , as is the potty, but best of all A/C!!!!

This project has turned into a "animal" with its own personality. I'll be calling on the power of Lateral G in the coming months. And remember financial donations are great but my shop is always open to fellow members who want to pick up a wrench or a piece of sandpaper and lend a hand. There will be some thing along the way I could for sure use help on and input.

Once again thanks from Fletchers for all the support and goodwill!! In 90 something days Ty will get the car he has always dreamed of!!

Got these pics last week from Greg Ducato at Phoenix Transmission Products (www.phoenixtrans.com) but I was on leave (vacation) with my family in Florida...

Here is the PT700R4SX trans, sub assembled and waiting final assembly... features over 40 performance and durability upgrades and modifications. These include: high load capacity sprags, high energy friction and band, increased pump volume and pressure, and more to provide the highest level of performance and economy possible.

OLDFLM
08-10-2009, 10:08 AM
Nice, beefy GM 5 pinion, hardened case planetaries, late design low sprag assembly and super duty reaction sun shell... trans also features a stronger input drum and reaction shell along with a modified reverse input drum and special performance band.

OLDFLM
08-10-2009, 10:09 AM
A nice pair of Billet servos, 2nd gear and 4th gear... their PT700R4SX is rated at 575 horsepower and 600 lbs. of torque in vehicles up to 3700 lbs... heavy duty reaction sun shell, 5 pinion rear planet and a host of other durability and performance modifications create the strongest 700R4 available!

OLDFLM
08-10-2009, 10:10 AM
9.5 inch 2800 stall lockup torque converter with anti balloon hub... the special clutch in this converter has more surface area than even thier larger 298MM converter and a special heavy duty dampener with hardened splines. The converter features Torrington bearings and a heavy duty sprag, full furnace brazing and tig reinforced fins, anti ballooning plate and hardened turbine splines. These are custom built to your specifications and fully computer balanced. A very strong and reliable converter that gives you incredible acceleration potential and still retains the converter clutch for easy, low heat highway cruising.

Just a little more work on the belly of the car. This undercoat is nasty, GM used some good stuff back then. Most of it is removed. Tonight I will be media blasting it. Also firewall is partially shaved, few more holes to weld up and a lot more welding on the filler pieces.

"Crank is in block with seal installed. Mains torque'd up. Rods have
bearings installed and all clearances checked. Crank endplay checked
and good. All rings cut. Need to get photographer on site to do pics
of cam install / degree. I could have the bottom end together by the
end of the week but that will not happen as I have to get pics of this
stuff. Hopefully next week.

Jeff (Kauffman @ KRE) is working on the heads and they will be done
soon. I want to have this thing on the dyno by the end of the month.
Prototype KRE North Wind Intake is machined... it is the Norwalk display we
had there. Hope to get some pics soon."

We are plugging along. Just about have the bottom of the car done and ready for bedliner. Had some issues with both frame rails after blasting. The northern salt had taken its toll on them in a few places and thinned them out a little. With no budget left, I decided to just take a little time and fabricate new rails. New rails are 10 gauge material formed identical to the stockers, each rail is 6 separate pieces that were pieced together to form a rail that look almost identical to factory. You can also see in the pics a lot of spot welds on the rockers and so fourth shaving the not needed trim holes and misc holes that were drilled in this thing. Apparently it had been through a LOT of exhaust systems in its life time , and no body could figure how to use an existing hole. 14 holes in drivers side and 17 holes in passenger side, where the stock hangers were. You can also see were both front half pans were removed and are being replaced with Goodmark halfs...

We'll be finishing the floor and starting on suspension this week.

I'm working my butt off!! My guys are still finishing another project for a customer. So I'm on the Firebird "solo"!!! The underside is done with the fab work!! Frame rails are done, front floors are in and welded and two patch panels in trunk are also done!!! Got about a hour of grinding to do, then I'll be spraying the bedliner tomorrow night if all goes well. Then off the rotisserie and back on the lift to get busy with suspension mock up.

We had a communication mistake with BMR and got a few day wait on the proper piece we need for the 10-bolt rear under it, they thought we had a
12-bolt. Which we would love but I've already come out of my pocket as we have already blown all of Ty's budget on parts. So no money for a 12 bolt rear. Should be starting final bodywork mid next week!!

Things are going pretty smooth in my opnion. Luckily theres no crazy fab work to be done. This car will be a classic "any guy" pro touring car that can be driven hard and put up wet , but still make every man in wish they had!!

OLDFLM
08-26-2009, 07:40 PM
Chad and Fletcher's Customs continue to blow me away!!!

He's definately gotten in a LOT deeper than he agreed to when he took the car in for a basic scuff-n-shoot refresh of my old muscle car! Then my budget was quickly eaten up ten-fold with each new part added to the build consuming even more man-hours!!

He's never once complained and now he's come out of pocket for parts and materials to ensure the car will be done in time for SEMA... have you ever heard of a more dedicated, generous and giving person or builder???

My hopes and prayers are that this car and the story behind his personal involvement in making my dream come true will serve as a calling card for Chad and Fletcher's Customs and that he is repaid for his generosity and friendship a thousand times over!!! :patriot:

What a long weekend!! But we crossed a very huge hurdle this weekend, the UNDERSIDE is done!! I did 23 hours alone on the car since Saturday morning!! After blasting the underside last weekend we found a ton of issues. Undercoating covered a lot!! Both side of the trunk floor had to be cut out, new panels formed and bead rolled to look stock, countless floor patches and welding up over 50 numerous drilled holes from years of stuff being attached under it. Also spent a good 8 hours hand forming new trunk drop down/closeout panels. Back in 1990 when Ty had partial quarters put on the car the guy cut the drop downs out and just welded some crappy sheetmetal in from the floor to the lower edge of the quarter. They came out and I formed a solid piece that acts as a support and closes out the inside of rear quarter section. More flashy than function but looks nice in my opinion. Rear frame rails are fully plated front to back, DSE subframe connectors are in, front floor pans are done, and going in primer and bedliner tonight. All major fabwork is complete, minus welding in a new rear lower tail panel, which I am cutting off a donor 72 bird. All rust repair is done and welded up, as well as metal straightening.

We will be putting the car on the ground this week! Suspension, wheels, brakes etc.

Then starting body work!! (again)

The hardest parts are done!!!!

I'll get a ton of pics tonight, but for now here are a few cell phone pics to hold you over!!

Another good day today!! Had three of us on the car for 5 hours each! Got the remaining bodywork, grinding, and a little bit of welding we found on the under side of the car done. Then seam sealed the DSE subframe connectors, the new floor pan seams just to be safe even though there welded solid, and then Josh grabbed the paint gun and went to town! Two nice coats of Epoxy primer, and then dumped 2 gallons of U-pol sprayable bedliner on the underside. I'm ecstatic on how the underside came out! Tomorrow off the the rotisserie and back on the lift.
Then BMR suspension mock up and subframe back under the car... getting close to being on the ground.

Pics coming in the morning when I get back to the office. Right now I'm posting this from my old laptop at home that my kids have somehow managed to make the screen turn 90 degrees, so the top of the page your viewing is now at the left side. And I can't figure out how to fix it. Being a Mac guy for 5 years has made me PC dumb!!

Yesterday was spent doing some house work, getting the car off the rotisserie and then onto the lift... cleaning up a little from the underside thrash the last few days and doing some media blasting on the rear end and the subframe. I got all the parts layed out from BMR. And my guys are painting the subframe and rearend today.
I'll be installing all the suspension components tonight if all goes well!

fletcherscustoms

They use custom designed AFCO's , designed specifically for this kit. I don't know the exact details as ours want be here till tomorrow. AFCO sent us factory rear replacements, I'm partially to blame as we never made it clear. And AFCO has done so much with helping us out with the shocks for the car. We are also using there factory replacement coilovers for the front!!

Yesterday was spent media blasting parts!! Subframe, rear end, front rear spring buckets, etc, etc. Then late last night, we got some color on them. Color is "hot rod black" which is suppossed to be a 60% gloss finish. These pics are 5 minutes after they were sprayed and rolled back in the shop. Also started the BMR install. Which is going together awesome

Just wanted to send out another update for all of you... We were contacted last week about the possibility of being on the PowerBlock on Spike TV... They loved the story behind the car and how all the different companies have come together to help make Ty's dream a reality. They loved what everyone was doing and want to show it to the world!

We got the call this morning from John Kurtz, head producer of Powerblock TV and he confirmed he wants us on the show with the car! So after SEMA we will have a few weeks to tie up any loose ends, then head to Franklin, TN, to the Powerblock studio to tape an episode with Courtney Hansen on December 8th and 9th. The car and interviews with Ty and myself will air in between each of different shows. Basically a few minutes each half hour, with interviews, walk around camera footage of the car, etc!!

Great opportunity for all our sponsors and supporters to get a little more credit for all they have done!!

Once again, I can't thank everyone who has given to the project enough!!!

Here's the Powerblock TV site http://www.powerblocktv.com/site3/

Very Cool! I Just read the update about Power Block again and just don't know what to say. Wow! I am so happy for you and how this is going. And for the guys at Fetchers and everyone else involved.
This has turned into your own "Project American Heros" car and you truly deserve it my friend!
I know all the folks involved are doing it for the right reasons and it just makes it that much better. Not one of the vendors or or people involved are doing this for selfish reasons. It is to show appreciation to you for everything you have done for us through your service. Thank you Ty.
I am really excited for you and the crew at Fletchers that this will be on TV and get the recognition and exposure it and you all deserve. National exposure, awesome! And hanging with the host ain't a bad gig either!:D
I really hope this leads to a lot of good steady work for Fletchers and takes them to the next level in the world of builders.
Any time I am talking cars with someone and they ask about parts or vendors I just go right down the list of sponsors on this build.

There is a personal side to this for me too though. This build and Tony Rose's Karma have done a lot to bring my faith in my fellow man back up where it should be. After several of my own bad experiences getting the raw deal it had sank to an all time low. And that is just not me. I give till I have nothing left to give. But when someone takes advantage of that it hurts. When several people do it all in a row it makes you re evaluate yourself and what you do. I don't like feeling like everyone is a bum and out for their own good and benefit. It's too much negativity to carry around. It takes the fun out of even the little things in life and consumes you (me).
So even though this is your car and your dream, and the same for Tony's build, they have helped me in a big way on a very personal level.
Many thanks to Fletchers, Comp Spec and everyone involved in these builds.

Chad just sent another quick text pic...

http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv273/OLDFLM/IMG00024-20090905-1942.jpg

AGR Billet 12:1 power steering box, BMR tubular control arms, KORE3 billet hub assembly (with 1/2"-20 screw-in ARP wheel studs) and a Fletcher's Customs-modified stock spindle!

I'd picked up another set of axles and had them modified last summer in order to speed up the process when swapping out the brakes... this was all before Chad got the project... anyway, FWIW late model 2nd-gen spindles are NOT the same as early 2nd-gen spindles!! The outer bearings are just slightly different sizes! So, if anyone needs an already modified set of late model 2nd-gen F-body spindles that are already painted and ready to go... let me know! LOL L2 = Lesson Learned!

IMPORTANT note from the KORE3 instructions! "GM tall-spindles came in two variations with respect to the outer wheel bearing size. The outer wheel bearing seat diameter of the spindle may be either Ø.750" [Ø19.05 mm] or Ø.844" [Ø21.44 mm]."

And now you know why I have an extra set of spindles available! LOL

INTERESTING note from the KORE3 instructions! "KORE3 billet hubs decrease track width .03" [.8 mm] per side over stock applications, making the overall track width .06" [1.6 mm] narrower than stock."

AGR's (http://www.agrperformance.com) Billet box features a true 12:1 ratio, the fastest turning ratio available. Firm race type valving enhances road feel and offers precise handling. Total Bearing Control locks in the sector shaft for smooth, precise steering! :drive:

I'd purchased PSTs Polygraphite® Performance Super Kit in 1990 and called them to see if they'd help with replacing the wearable items under warrantee...
They sent all new inners & outters, center link, idler arm, zerks, castle nuts, etc! Talk about service!!

Well another 10 hours in the shop today. And still two more days left in the long weekend! We'll have the subframe completed in the morning and on the ground waiting to go under the car. Josh has the firewall in primer and ready to be blocked then put it in paint late tomorrow afternoon.

Today was a good day. Only hiccup was the spindle issue. Plans were to use the ones Ty had already modded, but once I realized they were the later series and the bearings and hubs we had were for the first series. We had to tear Ty's old stuff down, cut the needed places, drill and tap the holes, media blast and paint. Ate up about 4 hours of the day on just that. But I took the time to grind all the casting marks off and smooth the spindles out and just make them cleaner looking.

Other than that things are going smoothly. I'll be roughing in all the body work on the shell tomorrow and getting it ready to go in high build for blocking. As well as media blasting and getting the fenders bodyworked and in primer also...

Things are really plugging along. The man upstairs is on our side thats for sure!

I'm also taking a bunch of high res photos to do the official updates on Tuesday. I just don't have any editing software on the new home PC to do it now.

Thanks for all the support!

12:31 AM, Eay 3 of the long weekend is a wrap!!! Started this morning at 7:45, so with my lunch and dinner breaks about a 15 hour day!! And boy is my body telling me that too!! But good progress none the less. Subframe is completed and rolling!! Josh has been on the firewall since about 1 this afternoon. Sprayed the final coat of high build at 4:30, 3 hour flash time till we could sand. He went to dinner, while I hung around and did bodywork on the quarter and roof seams. He got back around 8:30 and we grabbed the blocks and some 400 and went to town. First coat of base went on at 10:30, with the last coat of clear at 12:00. Three stage paints are fun!!

Tomorrow finish roughing in the bodywork on the shell. Subframe under it, and maybe outside for a picture as a roller!!!

What a week!! Ty's Firebird has progressed amazingly fast over the last 7 days. We went from a bare metal blasted shell, to a rolling chassis with the underside complete, rust repair and rough bodywork done on the rest of the shell, firewall shaved, bodyworked and in color, subframe complete with all new parts, rear BMR suspension installed, brakes installed and wheels and tires on it. Rolled out of the shop for the first time since Nov 08 when I go the car. I owe so much to my guys Josh and Jerry, between the three of us there were 146 hours put in since last Monday! And with three back to back 14 hour days this weekend, not even a single word from either of them!

The TIN INDIAN Performance/Kauffman Racing Equipment 440cid Poncho engine will be dyno'd at Kauffman Racing tomorrow!! Then shipped Thursday so we can mate it to the Phoenix Transmission Products 700R4, get it in the car and get the new aluminum driveshaft ordered from Inland Empire Driveline. The trunk lid and filler panel should be arriving today from Anvil Auto with the rest of the carbon fiber parts due in any day now! Then it's just final fit and alignment before laying out the stripes and more color!!

We're moving right along here at Fletcher's Customs!!! Thanks for your continued support! More pics are on the website www.fletcherscustoms.com

And here's what we had last Monday

TIP/KRE spent the past two days breaking the engine in and dialing in the new combo on KRE's in-house dyno.

Engine is now crated and shipping to Fletcher's Customs!

I must say that I was totally shocked at this combo!! HP numbers are very, very impressive...

TIP has a pending article coming out on the 440 so I had to promise not to release actual dyno numbers just yet... let's just say that they EXCEEDED the original estimates!!!

After these pics were taken they removed the polished covers before the dyno session started so they didn't get scratched up adjusting valves etc. But these are the covers that'll be on this beast in the car!!

Two days on the dyno means a quick install and painless to no tuning required once it's in the car! Just change the oil, hookup fuel lines/fittings, throttle/kickdown cables etc.

As Chad said, I'm gonna have to steal a uniform from a USPS worker... cuz this thing is gonna haul the mail!!! LOL :lateral:

Well another sleep deprived crazy weekend!! 40 hours since Friday afternoon and I hurt from my toe nails to my eye lashes. Everything hurts!!! LOL

This car is fighting me so bad, never in my life have I fought body work so much. The car is pretty much solid so that was a plus. But we've spent the entire week fixing the previous work done to the car over the last 30+ years. The shell of the car was covered in Bondo as you can see from prior pics. Not because it was rusty just because somewhere/sometime ago someone was too lazy to pull a dent out and just slapped it full of mud! Rear quarters skins were welded on in 1990 and instead of making them fit properly, they just layed them up there, welded them in and then beat the seam in with a hammer! The entire seam was 1" deep and filled with mud. Josh spent nearly 30 hours this week, with a hammer and dolly and a stud gun pulling dents!

Then we started fighting the bodywork... You know the routine, wipe it, sand, find high and low spots, wipe again, etc, etc. Over and over and over again. All in all there will be barely any mud in the car at all but we have eaten up 150 hours in just bodywork! But it IS coming together!

After media blasting the front fenders yesterday, we found some expected rust and where the front fenders were distorted from someone incorrectly welding up the marker lights, then slapping in a gallon of mud in each. Passenger side fender had also been hit sometime ago and pulled out on a frame machine. So you had a large disformed area. Both fenders are being trashed and we are now working to secure a set of fenders.

On a good note we got these pics this morning from Autorad!! Jim does an AMAZING job with his core supports! Can't wait to get this thing...

Well it's been a crazy week of bodywork and fighting the car... After media blasting the front fenders Sunday we found that they were trash... Between the driver's side being hit in the past and the warps put in before us I had to find replacements. Got lucky and within 8 hours of getting the word out we secured a set of NOS 71 fenders in Illinois! So that makes things a little easier...

Shop employees have doubled in the last couple of days! We have now gone from 3 to 7!! A few body guys from the local shops have stepped up to help out! Josh is my body and paint guy. You will never here me say I can do bodywork. I can fabricate, weld, and do anything else, but bodywork hates me and I hate it! LOL I just had to get some help for Josh, now we won't be two weeks out on paint but sometime in the next week!

This is my first SEMA car so I'm making it perfect! WE have been so anal about every little defect and detail on the body... It's taking time, but its time well spent!!

All the brake lines and fuel lines are installed as well as the new tank and RobbMc sending unit. Ready to drop the motor and tranny in on Thursday when the 440 gets here!!

Here's some more pics from Jim @ AutoRad of the core support! WOW!! Just WOW!!!

It's been a crazy week. Bodywork is done!!!!!! We are playing the waiting game right now. Waiting on the few parts to come in from Anvil and then full assembly of car with glass and trim. Make sure everything is perfect and then in color the weekend of October 2nd! WE will be building exhaust, nut and bolting the car, and remainder of the wiring and plumbing this week. Then tear down for the big spray weekend shortly.

I know where the "light at the end of tunnel" saying comes from now. As I can finally start to see a glimpse!!!
A few snags this week, but nothing that scares me. All interior panels are at the interior shop being covered this next week also. SO after paint, it's together and hopefully a few days of street terror before SEMA!!!!

We didn't make it to paint this weekend!!! We had front fender issues!! Ty's originals were trashed and had a ton of mud and dent and dings in them. So we searched the country over and found a set of "scuff and shoot" as the guy described 71 fenders with the vents like Ty's originals. Well after 10 days they finally showed Tuesday of this week. Off to the media blaster they go!! That when my nightmare starts. The "scuff and shoot" fenders are are trashed also. Driver has basketball size rust hole behind wheel, that had a piece of sheetmetal riveted in it with a half gallon of mud covering. The other side was almost as bad also. So some phone calls later we found a set of 72-73 without vent up in Warner Robins, one of Ty's friends had them. So I drove up and picked them up. All in all they were pretty good. Couple of small patches and pull a few dents and they were good to go. We lost 10 days waiting on them, $525 for the junkers, and then another two days secureing and fixing the new ones.

All the anvil parts are installed and lined up pretty decent. A few of them needed a little bit of work, but for prototypes straight out of the mold they are really good.

All mechanical aspects are done, lines, motor, tranny , etc. Still waiting on driveshaft this week.

Interior is pretty much done and seats will be arriving from Arizen this week.

Paint will be flying this Friday!!! Once paint is on car should go together quickly as everything else is basically done.

It was nice to have Ty down and let him witness how fun and hellacious building a car can be!! I think he was amazed that one little problem can turn into a huge 5-6 hour fix, that then requires fixing everything else behind it!!

I was just wondering if there was another reason (besides cost) that an iron block was used (considering all the carbon fiber parts are achieving the same result---high cost, but lower weight)....

Matt at Anvil does very nice work...

An aluminum block never came up when talking with KRE & TIP... they wanted to do something different and came up with the 440 with everything but the block being from the aftermarket... I think it's a killer engine combination and as well as everyone else who has been involved with the project, I'm thankful for their continued support of this build!!

Many parts were donated and many more were purchased thru discounts from the vendors who wanted to support the build. For that and for their involvement, generosity and support, I am truly thankful!! But, even with all the parts that were donated and discounted that doesn't mean that these builds are free and you simply have to draw the line somewhere.

Through it all, I've met some really great folks/friends... my hope is that all their generosity and support is repaid ten fold!! :lateral:

V/R,
Ty

We're plugging along!! I've had to bring in a few people from a local bodyshop to help out and get this thing ready for paint on Friday!! WE are a little behind where I would like to be for paint... Still got to bodywork the driver's door and front fender. Then prime and wetsand entire car again!!! There's just not enough hours in the day for two folks, so I had to hire some guys part time!! We WILL put paint on it this weekend!!! It'll be a sleepless weekend for sure!!

Yeah we're getting close!!! I would have liked to be in paint three weeks ago! But we were waiting on alot of things that made that impossible... It's gonna be down to the wire!! I could still use anyone's help that wants to come hang out and help!

I'll post up some shots from the booth this weekend. But after that nothing else till SEMA... I'm really wanting the whole wow factor for Ty the first time he sees it! We wanted to keep it hidden from him until the first day of SEMA for a big reveal, but he'll be riding out with us and will have to help clean it so I'll debut it to him at the shop before we leave... maybe! LOL

Once again thanks to all the supporters and to this great community for rallying behind this project!! :lateral:

New custom license plate will now be: FRDM BRD (Freedom Bird)

I couldn't get "CF-71" as it was already taken!! Unbelievable!

I've re-registered the car as Blue and have a temporary tag for it already... just in time for paint!

She said the new plates should be here in 7 to 10 days. So we should have them in time for SEMA!! (c:]

It's been a long weekend!! Had as many as five guys working on it this week!! WE finally got the final coat of primer on this morning at 1 AM!!! Then back up at 8:00 AM and back to blocking. Got through with the last bit of blocking at about 6:30 this evening. Had some dinner then blew it apart and cut in the doors and the jambs. Tomorrow we'll throw it back together and get it in the booth! Tomorrow by this time it'll be in color!!!

Overall 43 hours of bodywork, blocking and priming since Thursday!! It's been a long weekend and I'm spent!!

Congrats on getting paint on the car. You guys have got a crazy couple of weeks ahead.

Matt,

P.S.

Ty, I know you asked me about some of the material we used in our interior, and I just wanted you to know we have some left over. It might not be quite enough to cover whatever you have in mind, but we can send it over if you're still interested, that way you can look it over, see how it stretches, etc in case you want to use it.

All the talk of bad things happening woke the evil demon in the car. Last coat of clear walk out the booth , flip the bake cycle. Burner fires, burner shuts off. Blew the pressure regulator on the gas train. So no heat, left it in spray cycle all night and it was dry this morning. But sure would have been nice to bake it!! We reached a milestone in the build last night, COLOR!!!!

Things went really well with the color and clear, beside the booth heater malfunction!! Having a $80,000 down draft booth to spray in makes things so much nicer also. Only 3 pieces of little trash in the whole car!!! We started spraying at 5:30 and by 10 we were headed to the house!! Back to pick it up today and onto in cut/buff and interior install. All in couldn't ask for a better outcome with the paint. Total man hours between five people over the last two weeks, is close to 500.

Now on to the pics!!!

Just wanted to remind everyone what we have pulled off. Heres what the car looked like 7 weeks ago!!! Still on the rottiserie with floor pans cut out and still repairing underside!

I want to publicly thank my guys!! For those of you who don't know the story, we are all part timers all of us work full time day jobs!! And then moonlight at the shop at night and weekends. So all this work has been done after most folks are at home watching football and having a beer on the couch. I personally can't wait to get this thing done, to have some time off and see the family again!! lol

- Jerry (my father in law and go to guy for anything mechnical or fab wise) thanks for all you've done, from fabrication to helping me keep my head straight and keep my eye on the prize and get this thing done!

- Josh (cousin, painter and body man) for working long hours in the shop, getting the bodywork done, and the car in paint! Don't know where we'd be without what you've done!

- Wayne (friend, who runs a local body shop) for coming out the last couple of weeks after work and helping us to get the bodywork done... and doing it just because you liked the meaning of what we were doing!

- Alan (new friend, also a local body guy) thanks for stepping in and helping out last week with the body! Coming on in the middle of the build, not knowing any of us and being a true professional and helping knock this thing out!! A true friend you now are!
