View Full Version : I push the clutch and the brakes go down

Well just like the title says. When I push the clutch down, the brake pedal goes down a little bit. Not much but enough to help brake the car when shifting gears. I'm curious if that hydroboost system has something to do with it? Any suggestions?

i am not sure whats going on, but the two systems are in no way tied together other then the brake/clutch pedal assembly, i would first look there for binding etc

Hey Jake, I did that and I didn't see anything that might have been in the way. Ill check again.

I just checked, and nothing is in the way of the two. I checked under the hood and could not find (obviously) anything tied together. It's weird.

Probably a pedal shaft bushing causing your problems. Not the best set up in my opinion. I had to modify mine to make it work to my satisfaction.

thats what i was meaning by pedal assembly.

try pushing clutch with hand and watch brake pedal, if it moves, remove cir clip and slide assembly out, re lube, get new plastic bushings and reinstall. my bet is on a dried up bushing or shaft. yes i just said shaft,lol
there should be i think 4 plastic bushings, 2 on left side and 2 on right side, where shaft goes thru housing, one on each side. use some white moly lube

Yes when I push the clutch pedal it does depress the brake pedal.
So you're saying to lube up my shaft?
Now that's something I can do. Ill try and get back to you. I might come back and have a smaile on my face, then Ill have to fix the car. :lol:
