Hey Guys...

I am new to the SOLIDWORKS program, but have been using CAD design for the last 20 years, mostly CATIA and PRO-ENGINEER...

I am designing up a frame for my '67 2 Door Chevelle station wagon to use C5 Corvette front and rear suspension items, (hence the name C5 Longroof)...I have the pick-up points for the stock locations...What I am wondering is that if anybody has the actual components modeled up in solids, (spindles, control arms, brakes?)...I could/would do it if I had tha actual parts, but I don't...I could come up with a bunch of other neat little items I've modeled up in solids for trade...I just need to get past these suspension items to get a good idea on finishing the rest of the frame design so I can start the actual build of it...Anything would help guys...

Home e-mail is [email protected] if needed...

Thanks and THIS SITE RULES!!!!!!!

Rick

You’re not going to find anyone that will give you those files. I know people that have them and they get them directly from GM by being a legitimate automotive company that is a SEMA member. Best suggestion is just do some reveres engineering and make simplified models of them.

I don't have them but may end up modeling some arms myself, can you share the pickup points?

Hey 96Z28SS...I have actually moved back up to the Seattle area to work on contract for Boeing for a little while...Was in the electrical design group at Freightliner there on Swan Island till gas prices started turning buyers away from new trucks and about 15 of us CAD Designers got let go...

As for the CAD models, I wasn't really asking for anything from the GM guys or what not...I was just hoping that sopmebody had already done what it looks like I am about to do and just sit down, measure, and model...I don't have one of those fancy ass 3D scanning devices, as that would make the task OH-SO easy...Looks like I'll be scouring some sites for various pieces of C5 suspension items...Cool...

As for the pick up points, let me look thru my files...I believe I have them in an Excel file of all things...

I don't have anything to share C5 related sadly :( I only have most of my car in SW models

I think Suspension Analyzer has those specs as a stock file. Demo it and it should be there!

If you have the stock pick-up points, maybe we could help each other. I have been looking for the stock pick-up points for months and have not received much useful information. However I am in the process of modeling C5 suspension components.

Maybe we could work a trade?

"Mr. Shark"....

Yes oh yes...Trading is always welcome in my world...Let me take a peek thru my files and find the file of stock C5 pick up points to make sure I even have something to trade you for...

So do you have the actual C5 components you are using to measure and model up, or are you just winging it?...The model you showed looked pretty nice...

I will do a file search on my 5 computers to see where that file has migrated to and let you know ASAP, OK?...

Thanks for the offer my friend...

I am modeling from the actual suspension components.

Let me know about the suspension pick-up points.

TWIN TURBO, BBSHARK...

Well it took me FOREVER to locate them, but I have an excel spreadsheet that has all the pickup points for the C5 vettes front and rear...

Send me an e-mail at [email protected] and I will gladly share what I have, no charge...

I have digitally chatted with a few people in the know and realize that the actual models of the C5 components really ARE gaurded by trademarks and such thru GM...Somehow though the pickup points snuck out and ended up on my desk...I am going to attempt to use those points to make basic models of the suspension, maybe being able to borrow my buddies C5 for the weekend to do some reverse engineering to get the models a little closer to true...

Will be looking forward to your e-mails soon guys...

Rick,

Building the only (one that I know of) '67 Chevelle 2 door Pro-Touring wagon...Look for pics soon as I put together a decent pic portfolio for this website...
