I will try to keep this short:_paranoid I have about 1000 ideas going thru my head.....
So I just purchased this twin turbo 64 chevelle that many of you have seen.
Awesome car! What I've always wanted. (would love to have built it, but 3 kids under 7 yrs. old makes it impossible right now)
However, I overlooked one thing. I live in New Mexico at 5500 ft. This car has accel gen 6 DFI(now outdated) . Guess what, I can't find anyone to tune it. So I've spent 4 days researching and bugging people. There are seriously some amazing people on this site... (ie. JodyB. Nelson Racing, etc. etc.) They have given me some great options which I will probably end up utilizing! However, they are all 14 hrs. away from me, so I want to make 1 last crazy effort to come up with another solution...
I have some crazy ideas....Is there anyone going to Sema that would want to do an overhaul of my FI system? It would be great advertising in the show to do it live:unibrow: Or I could upgrade my whole FI system, etc. etc.
Knowing thats a crazy idea, how about just someone in southwest that is reputable that can handle this. I'll accept any of your brainstorming. I'm not looking to do a $20k engine overhaul, but am willing to spend some money. My whole goal is to get it tuned correctly and have a more updated system that can be manipulated much easier.......:willy:

Job Spetter, @ Turbo People can do it over the internet. He does our dual
88mm sbc from the drag strip over a wireless connection. We ran a 7.54 last weekend in Fontana on our 4th pass with our new combo. He is possibly the best in the country. He tuned the Mustang in PHR this month also.
Plus Jobe likes the Accel software, that is what we use in the race car also

remember guys, he has the Gen VI system, much older than the more modern Gen VII. Hard to find people that still tune them. I could get him going if we could find the software to tune with.

I would try Camaros.net or Chevelles.com. Much bigger database of members. I can't believe Accel can't help you.

I also know and have worked with Job Spetter. I believe he can tune Gen VI he may try to talk you into getting the Gen VII.
He is for hire it will cost you but he will fly to your area and as long as you have a dyno lined up he'll tune it. He is out of New York/New Jersey area and he used to drive to the dyno I worked at and tune like 3-4 cars.

Thanks JB. You have been such a big help you don't even understand! Just don't even think I've ditched you and/or Dan. I just want to check out all avenues before I proceed! You know if I lived within 8 hours, this wouldn't even be a discussion:) We'll be in touch:D

not even worried about that. Cheapest thing for you is to get your current system tuned, so hopefully find someone who can tune the Gen VI. If you do find the software let me know, and I'll help all I can to get the beast running right. I just don't have the tuning software to make any changes.

Try Dave Erlilch at Autotrend diagnostics. I was a Rep for ACCEL for years, and he was always my "go to" guy for any DFI issues. Very thorough, very enthusiastic, and a great guy.

Mike - I owe ya!!! Actually, I owe alot of people on this forum at this point:hail: Crazy how some things come together. I did some research on Bob. Called him last Thursday. Long story short, we talked. He has the Gen VI software I needed on a laptop. Then he called back and said "hey, Im going to be at the Run to the Pines car show in Pinetop, AZ this weekend, how far is that from you?" I pulled out a map. It would only be about 4 hours away:yes: By FAR (10 hours closer than all my other options!) the best option I had. So I began running all day Friday looking for trailer and trying to get stuff ready to go down. It wasn't easy, but I made it down. I hooked up with Bob and Saturday. We hooked up the car, made some minor tweaks, and its running GREAT!!!! And I got to attend a great car show in a beautiful area of AZ. And Bob, I can't even say enough good things about him. Definitely knows his stuff, and great guy to deal with! Highly recommended to all southwesterners!!!
There is so much more to this story, but don't want to bore everyone. My main point is that for now, I am happy. After studying my setup, we found that it is not controlling (retarding) my timing automatically. It's not setup to do that. So I will be installing a FAST system in the next few weeks. The goal will be to have it all done for Scottsdale Goodguys.
I could not have done this without this forum:lateral: Jody, I owe you also! You helped me along the path. I need to call Dan to let him know I'm good for now. Thanks again!

I am glad you called Bob. Bob has a way about him, he is a friend for life. He flys in this friday to spend a week with us to get our cars ready for the Playboy Mansion and SEMA. You made the right call going with him.....
Just wait until you get the new FAST system tuned by him.....
Mike
Sounds great Jason! I am glad you figured out the issue so quickly. So now you are ready to smoke em. :unibrow:

that's great Jason, glad it got figured out. Out of curiosity, was it lean? The timing deal is major on forced inductions, you have to be able to lower the timing in the boosted areas of the map. You'll be very happy with the FAST unit, one of my favorites.

It was lean. We richened it approx 20-25% across the curve. And the timing deal... I am learning about that. Due to the importance of it with boost, I am going to get it done quick and not drive very much. Don't want to take any chances. Thanks again!
