My wife and I have been up most of the night watching various TV Coverage of the storm. Are thoughts and prayers go to all of you and I wish the best of luck to a speedy recovery. I know we have quite a few members in the areas that have been hit. Take care and stay safe.

I'm OK, I live further down south right by the Mexican border. Right now the weather here makes me feel like I am in Hawaii. :captain:

Houston and Galveston were hit by Ike, hope everybody there is OK.

Thanks for the concern BigTyme!

my wife's sister and brother-in-law live in Willis near Lake Conroe. My brother-in-law is a fireman in Conroe and was on duty on Saturday night. We were definitely relieved when they called us on Sunday to let us know that everyone was ok!

I'm from Lake Charles but, live in Dallas now. My family back home lost electricity in both Rita & Ike. They had lots of wind damage in Rita but, not so much from Ike. I do have friends that have water damage from Ike tho.

I'm glad to hear you & your family are OK.

My wife's parants live in Alexandria & they got it pretty bad from Gustav (sp?).

We are all very lucky here, most of houstons population leave on the west side noth and south. and the storm went just east of downtown. Lots of down trees and many will not have power for weeks. Near the water was hit very hard, they need lots of help.

Thanx Chris--i Have Family In Denton And Sanger Too! Tell U What Is Bothering Me Most About This (and James Probably Wondering Too) Is That The Population Of Galveston Was About 60k--if 40% Stayed --that's 24k--only 20-25 Dead So Far??? I'm Real Worried We Are Going To Be Shocked Shortly Down The Road With New Figures!! It's Terrible !!! An Hpd Officer That Works Off Duty For Me At Some Of My Swapmeets In Houston Says He Is Going From Gas Station To Gas Station Breaking Up Fights!! Should Get Better Soon!!! Jim:(

I heard on the news Fort Worth cops headed down to Houston to help with keeping the looters under control.

& I heard this question posed on the radio, “What is the possibility that people were washed out into the gulf with the reseeding tide?”

The pictures leave you speechless, our hearts go out to all the familys involved with this. You can replace your stuff/house but not your loved ones.

I got my power back two days ago.

I would also say that many people were washed out to sea.

The crime rate is lower now then it would be normal.

It is weird, I went to the bar last night and drove home with only a few of the stop lights working.

There are many restaurants, grocery stores, bars that are open. If you have a car and your home was not destroyed then you can go around and get about anything you need, and one of your friends has power.
