guys

looking to find out if anyone here has used a colored coating on the headers if so, who did you use and are you happy with it .
im trying to find a good source for coating some headers in something other than the bright silver normally used
black or grey possibly

thanks

Jet Hot has been doing black/gray and matte finish coatings for a while now. The original (shiney) Jet Hot on my exhuast still looks new even tho it's on my supercharged motor since '97.

I have my headers done in "titanium gold"-- coating looks awesome and still looks new after 6 years with the supercharger and high EGTs.

The only disadvantage to the colored coatings is unlike the media-tumbled shiny silver they are a bit textured so they can be harder to clean. Also, the coating I used (and according to the coating guy, all the colored coatings he sells) are a bit higher temp than standard shiny silver but they are more fragile until they've seen a few heat cycles. Thus you need to be careful with them during assembly as they're easy to scuff and chip until they fully cure during the first few heat cycles.

You can see them fairly good in this picture:

Jody used the same color coating on all his intercooler piping.

I believe Steve used it too on his car's headers.
