Big thanks to Rodger form Ironworks

I wanted to thank Rodger from Ironworks for stopping by on his way home last night. It must have been a long day for him after the West Coast Nats.

I also need to apologize again for not answering the phone :).... Rodger was gonna call me when he got close so I could direct him to my house. I had a friend that just sold his 67 Camaro roller to a guy from germany, so the guy flew all the way here to pick it up. He wanted to come over and see my car, so they all came over Sat evening. I was out front talking with them when Rodger called my cell and like an idiot I couldnt feel it in my pocket ( I never have it on silent/vibrate but turned it that way when I was at work in case Rodger called).... he called like 8 times before I felt it vibrate :rolleyes: In the mean time he was driving through Manteca with his 40 foot trailer getting lost...... I'm so sorry...... I felt like a total dick.......sorry....

So Rodger took a look at the car and was careful not to completely rip it apart. As expected alot of areas are pretty messed up, but I didnt make the "top 10" of disasters !!!!!

Its all fixable and I'm nowhere near having to start all over again, but some of the area will have to be totally re-done to have them be right. Its all a matter of what I can fix myself or live with as not prefect but "OK" and what I want/need to fix.

So Rodger kinda gave me an idea on the hours involved for some of the areas and his hourly rate, so I have a rough idea about $$.

For now, Im just gonna keep plugging away at the areas I feel I can fix myself, keep talking to shops and make a decision in a couple of months..... Ironworks is definitely at/near the top of my list....its just a matter of my budget......

For those of you that havent met Rodger.....he's a really nice guy and seems to have a real passion for doing the job the right way.

Good to hear that he made it by and got a good look at the car! I met Rodger at SEMA last year and he did seam like a truely nice guy....and I think his work speaks for itself....yeah his shop does killer work! :yes:

Also, good to see that you are moving forward...it's really the only thing you can do! Big hug brother! You'll power threw this!! :thumbsup:

I gotta say that when I started my project with Rodger it was a straight business deal but after having spent many hours with him along with our endless phone conversations(Sorry Rodger!:lol: ) he has become a true friend of mine. He's a real stand up guy with a real passion for what he does and I think it reflects in the work you've seen him do on my car and some of the others on his site. I think the only fault I can think of is that he wants everything to be perfect but then again is that really a fault?:lol:

Wow, Thanks guys. I really enjoy what I get to do. And yes I want things to be perfect. What exactly perfect is I'm not really sure. Is it ever perfect? I also really enjoy getting to meet good customers that have turned into great friends. Brian ( Brian Mc, who owns the tube chassis 63 ) Let me and my girlfriend stay at his House with his wonderful wife and son in Livermore and then went to help me load Rich Allens cars after backing my trailer up the slalom course Rich calls the court he lives on. Plus that sucker snuck up to the cashier friday night at dinner and bought dinner.

If any body needs a curvy canyon road to test out your suspension on call Rich his street is perfect for running through the twisty's. My time in reverse and up hill with my f-450 and 48 ft trailer was not to great. I hope to Improve on that when We return the car for Christmas.

Thanks again for the props on our work, I have a really talented staff and we get some work done. It is really cool to have people from all over know about the different cars that we have worked so hard on, that really blows me away.

It was nice meeting both Rich and Ned yesterday, I look forward to assembling and Rich's Camaro for him. It was also nice to meet you Ned and I hope you get your project figured out and back on track to the level you want. Just remember every project has major hurdles, Every project. If it was easy everybody would do it. All you can do is use your expereince to help others when they are in your current or previous position.

Plus I know my way around Manteca, pretty well and I have Ned's phone number memorized......... Just kidding Ned.... It's all good

I'm setting up a plan to meet Rodger at the shop, not this Friday but the following Friday (possibly on Sat). If you want to drive down with me your more than welcome. We could meet early, have breakfast and be at the shop before Rodger gets out of yoga class.
