hey guys, I've lurked around here for a bit, and just signed up to introduce myself. Sweet pad you guys got here. It's nice to see a lot of the people I already know on here, as well as a lot of guys who's work I admire.

Anyhow, the names Jeph and I work for Scotts Hotrods in Oxnard CA. Right now we have a few Mustangs and shoebox Novas in the shop, as well as one Mustang that we are building to try to compete for SMOY. Anyhow, here's some in progress pics as well as a few shots of some of the other cars around the shop.

Yeah, he's about as cool of a customer as you can get. If you end up in Pleasanton this weekend, you should stop by our booth, he'll be sitting in his chair, LOL.

Here's the latest update. We added a set of brake cooling vents.

Hey Jeph, Tell the old man I stopped by the shop before I headed up to my booth at Goodguys. The concept and work is awesome. I haven't seen this kind of detailed craftsmanship. This is a level I could only hope our shop will achieve. We may have you on paper but where the welder meets the metal ???? Great Job. Looking forward to Columbus and the finished product.

Rumor has it even bigger things are coming. Good luck

awesome work! be nice to see more Fords in the final five at SMOY..or at least one lol...maybe you`ll see this one up against Fesler built fastback! Hands down you have the chassis covered though...will this be a bolted down body or will it be a fully welded body to the frame?

Hey ChipF, thanks for the props. This year we are really trying to showcase our builds, rather than just the parts everyone knows us for.

I'll get some more pics up tomorrow, I have a few more you'll probably drool over:unibrow:

No, we are definitely bolting this body to the frame. This customer is going to drive the crap out of this car on the street, and really wants it to be comfortable. For the first year we will probably use brass bushings since it's going to see a lot of track time....but after that, rubber baby bumper buggies all the way:lol:

It's definitely be cool to see more Blue Ovals in the top 5.......and heck, I'm a Bowtie guy, I just love variety.

Thanks for the advice about stopping by your booth and meeting your big time customer. What a straight up guy. Really knows his s%@#t. He thinks the world of you guys. Based on his projects that he discussed and some of the concepts that you guys are working on these pictures are just a small sample. By the way that AMBR car in the booth was incredible.

I am a blue oval guy as well and can't wait to see this fastback in Columbus. Keep posting pictures. There is no doubt it will be in the top two. As Chip or Doug said the metal work is as good as it gets. (I saw it on the 32 also). You sure won't have to worry about any of the shennanigans they had this year like the body filler fiasco. I can't even imagine a million dollars plus invested for bondo.
Wonder what that does to somebody like TT's reputation.

Anyway, I would like to talk to you guys about a 67 fastback. I think my due dilligence is done. I'll give you a call.

Please tell me you guys don't really think that Chip Foose just posted on this board.

Foose has built things in metal that would put most builders on this site to shame, and we have a very large talent pool here. There is NO WAY he just said that about his own fabrication skills.

It is a funny joke, I get it; but Foose has enough credit to actually post his entire last name. Will a mod be so kind as to check the IP of the poster ChipF and see if it came from anywhere near his current location?

I'll bet that the answer would be no..

The inner fender panels and down tubes are finished now. If you look close you'll the the panels are bolted in with blind nuts. It gives them a neat clean look without having to weld them in.

Chris I can't think of anything more fun than showing a couple of Fords side by side; there is going to be some stiff competition in Columbus this year, and I look forward to a great show.

Sorry to take so long in my reply...been swamped.

We don't ever weld bodies to frames. Not that there is anything wrong with that at all, but it's just not how do it with any uni-body cars we build.

Here's a pic of the body mount spacer on a different Mustang.

http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r385/scottshotrods/Build%20Ups/dingmans%20mustang/DSC05522.jpg

The washers are there for setup, then we make a nice set of poly bushings. The mount there is on the x-member, but we have them all over the chassis.

No, not at all- I was not directing my comments at you or your shop. I can see how my wording came off that way and for that I'm sorry. I am totally directing this at the one post wonders using high end builder's first names and last initial, while talking about the builders own work. Seems childish to even bother registering to attempt to pass themselves off as someone they clearly aren't.

Little bit of an update.

With the hiatus over, we are back to schedule on this project;although this one will unveil at SEMA rather than GG Columbus. We opted to take the other Mustang project to compete and leave this one for next year.

A lot of the big work is done and here is just a few quick snapshots of the roof being chopped.

The windshield was laid back 3/4" and the rear sction was chopped 3/4". Very subtle, but it looks great. As soon as it is in a better location I'll take a few profile shots.

Roll cage is in as of this week.

We opted to do a bolt in (sort of) so the body could be removed for final finish on the chassis. There are plates welded to the frame, and to the body that will bolt together.

The door bars are not in and complete yet, but the rest is.

Was it at Columbus?

The 65 mustang you are asking about will be at columbus next year the
customer wants to do alot more mods on the car and he is doing some
changes on the engine. We will have some updated pictures
of this car in a few weeks.

For columbus this year we do have the other 65 mustang we were building
that has been shown on this site the car did not make the top 5 for street
machine and this car was being built for our client who wanted to have a car
he could drive around in and have fun in.This client has a other car we have
been building for last two years that will be competing for the ridler award in
feb 2010 in detroit.

There were alot of nice cars here in columbus and the roadster shops vette
was very sharp and all of the rest of the cars that were in the running were
nice as well.

For anybody who is in columbus this week stop by our booth and say hello
we are behind Mothers polishing and if you have a chance stop by mothers
and you can see our 32 roadster we built that won americas most beutiful
roadster and I know it is not a street machine but you can see a sample of
some of are other work.
Thankyou,
Justin
