I am thinking about getting a car to Pro-Tour. What car should I do? I am thinking about either a 69 Mustang, 69 GTO or maybe 69 or 70 Chevelle. I would be interested to hear your thoughts and any suggestions for a PT rookie. Thanks

Have you seen the "Big Time" 1:24 scale PT 69 Chevelle?? It looks awesome. The one I have is dark blue model.

Here is whats gonna happen. People are gonna say do the car they own if they own one on the list, and if they dont...they will say do the most "uncommon" car on the list.

I think generally you can get parts and stuff for all those cars no problems, plus enough other people working on them for resources. So I just say whichever you like the best...find some pictures of others, research costs of the cars and go with it.

I know it's not on the list, but i reckon that if you're contemplating a GTO & you dont mind Ponchos, then go for a '69 Firebird. Shades of '69 Camaro but different enough to ooooooze style, plus the parts are available for it as it's a 1st Gen to make the build easier

Steal Stevo's bike and do a trike conversion (and sell the kit), or do a '73 Toyota Corolla. Those are your only two choices.

By the way Steve, I love the crotch-bar pad. Was that a modification bourn from necessity? If so, we'll need pictures of the accident. :P

I will say if you are new to the game and don't have alot of experience, I would pick something with bolt ons widely available. Mainstream yes but easier to accomplish. If you have some skill, and a little bit of know how, i would go for something a little more off the beaten path. Either way, prepare to turn a large fortune into a small one and have fun doing it. Worth every penny in sanity.

I personaly like camaros more then anything else, but quit honestly we need less of the same. I would think a Mustang would be a good chioce just to give variety. I wouldnt mind seeing what else is out there. Now for my car, I have a 1973 camaro which I think is great. I chose this car because of the front head lights and rear tail lights.

Pick what you think looks the best and what you would be proud of.

I'm a chevy guy but would have to go with the Mustang too because that year is MEAN looking. But the Pontiac guys and 2nd gen Camaro guys got me thinking and a 70-73 Firebird would be very cool. Not overdone in the least, not a Camaro, Poncho 455 weighs the same as small block chev, aggressive looking, readily available, and You could follow PHR's project G/28 to get a ton of proven, readily available bolt ons to make the thing rock!
Remember Poncherello's T/A on ChiPs? Imagine that car hammered down on some 19" Kinesis cross laces with gold anodized centers! My next stop might just be www.traderonline.com !

I agree a second gen Firebird would be a nice change of pace for Pro-touring.

A-Bodies (Chevelle or GTO) offer the best bang for the buck. Lots of easy to install part available, plenty of room for big rubber and if you are on a budget, you can start with a Cutlass or Skylark. The right 442 or GS trim will go a long way towards dressing those cars up.

Of your three choices, I personally would do the 69 Mustang. I'm dying to build one in semi-gloss black or silver with the outer headlight buckets in red and shark's teeth on the leading edge of the front bumpers--bomber art style.

I can't get that picture of me to load. Which embarrasing photo was it?
