Are theses guys reputable Sellers?

Does anyone have experience buying from www.GatewayClassicCars.com ?

I am thinking about ditching the rotary and going classic. I know exactly the car I want, and they have it.

They seem to have a sh!t ton of classics all the time. How do they keep such an inventory? Are they reputable sellers?

I've noticed a lot of "Believed to be XX,XXX actual miles, but cannot verify!"
And they have a disclaimer on every page "All Vehicles are sold AS-IS "
I understand the legalities of selling vehicles, and they are obviously protecting themself. I just want to make sure they have a good reputation.

I have a friend that has the 61 olds dynamic 88 there. He says that its a pretty good shop tp deal with. Alot of the cars are on consignment i believe. Hope this helps

What would be some questions to ask or things to look out for when buying a classic?

How can I verify "matching numbers"?

Is there a place I can go to find out what the car in question came with when it was built? Not sure if CarFacts would work or not...

I could hit the gateway in charlotte with a golfball from my shop. And yes they are a consignment shop.

Figure out just what you want out of the car you want to buy. Do you need matching #'s ? If you are on this site you are hanging with guys that for the most part couldn't give a *** about #'s matching. I like everything so I put up with these guys. What kind of car do you like ?

For me, I'd like to buy a car that will hold it's value or gain value over time.
When I buy the car, I want to buy the one that will have the highest potential for resell in 10-20-30 years.... with the least amount of fabrication and effort.

Matching numbers are important for that, correct?

I'm not looking for a molested, heavily mod'd car that is gonna drain my pockets. I want an original, clean cruiser. I'll probably look to chrome out the alternator and things like that, add braided lines instead of rubber, switch the radiator for an aluminum, Koni shocks... things like that. More original with a hint of show car.
