The numbers are all over the place on weight of first gen Camaros. I found a few references to published Chevrolet numbers from back in the day. I have the 1968 Chevrolet Chassis Service manual, for a V8 coupe they list weight of about 3050 lbs. Pontiac published a similar number for 1968 Firebird (i think it was technically 3063--you can see it in the Standard Catalog of Firebird book). I have no way of knowing if this is bone dry or a loaded or stripped car. Others that have weighed their cars seamingly have more or less the same set-ups and their mass can vary by as much as 300 lbs. For a street car i have not seen anyone claim less than 3200 and most are closer to 3400 for a true street car with AC, stereo equipment, overdrive transmission, 12 bolt or 9 inch, etc. Some strippers have been down to 2600-2800.
Anyone with real numbers can post up what they are running and confirmed weights? Be great if the weight distribution was known as well.
Thanks!

3000LBS in a fully dressed car is going to be tough. Building some street / drag cars, we have trimmed some weight. Never get them under 3000LBS with full interior, full glass, etc.
To do it you will need to watch weight in the seats (most likely no factory seats), fuel tank (no stainless), roll bar (use chromemoly), Bumpers (fiberglass / CF is you best freind) and eliminate brackets. Obviously engine / trans / rear, All aluminum eninge (no forced induction), TKO trans (automatic too heavy, to much fluid / cooler), 9" rear rifle drilled axles and aluminum center section. Watch the brake weight, think aluminum hats, drilled and slotted rotors, aluminum master, (no booster / hydroboost), Ditch the leafs for a 4 link, Aluminum driveshaft, Watch the bondo! Primer/ paint build up! That stuff is heavier then you think.
In the end, if it is fully dressed you will probably still be 3200LBS!
