This happened on Feb 23rd 2008 on departure out of Guam. Just found the video, it was the first I had heard of the accident. Looks like a flight control problem to me. Glad the crew made it out.

It was due to 'water on the sensors'; the flight crew and maintenance guys were all cleared of any shennanigans. At about $4+B, It is the most expensive crash in AF history.

I've taken off out of Anderson there- there's a cliff at th end of the runway, so once you hit refusal speed, there ain't NO looking back.

All that over water! I understand it but still....wow! Talk about Mr. Toads Wild Ride. I can only imagine the pucker factor for those guys.

I started my flying by working for a company that hauled rafters in and out of the Grand Canyon. I totally understand how you felt about the cliff.

If that had been any other plane I would have said pilot error, but since the computer does more flying on those than the pilot I won't. It was an obvious stall, and the pilot almost recovered.

The B-52 guys never seem to get out. Must be the part about ejecting down and out of the aircraft. Ejecting would suck!
