So I was just curious to see what everyones opinion is on this topic. I personally have a few tattoos and two peircings. My tattoo on my side is my camaro with some pistons and live fast written in the back ground and checkered flag tear aways and a tribal design on my arm that i got when i was 18. All are able to be hidden by a short sleeve tshirt. And i have two lip rings that I concider subtle and not too gawdy. All of the ppl around me dont seem too offended or closed minded about it, but they all know me on a personal level. I was just curious on how accepted the tattoos and peircings have become today. I was concidering a full sleeve down to my wrist on my right arm consisting of a paint gun and some von dutch style designs along with other automotive related things. Cars are my passion and my trade. I believe that a tattoo should tell a story or represent something. Im kind of reserved on it just for the fact of my job security in the future and if i would be judged immediately and stereotyped. Do you guys see it as that big of a deal? im definatley not going to get any more peircings just because i think it gets way overkill way fast. I know there are a lot of ppl here that i would concider trying to work for in the industry and if you were hiring a person how would you feel about the subject?

Tats are cool, I've got 2 & would like more but, the rings I've kind of grown out of. I've had my eyebrow & both my ears pierced but, in my mid 20's I decided to take them out & don't really car for the peirced look anymore. If it weren't for the JOB thing I'd have a Tat sleeve.

i'm all for it and I think in the car world, or more the custom car crowd, it's a norm. High dollar trailer queens? not so much ... but who cares? really.

Sure seems like it's easy to find beautiful cars built by people with tattoos - I think that speaks for itself. When it comes to creativity, if you're going to be closed minded you're only hurting yourself as far as hiring goes. Its happened to me and prolly plenty of others but in my case I had to be thankful because shortly after, as I learned more about that person, I was glad not to be working there.

I have both upper arms, jump wings on my chest and one on the side of my left calf. A lot of people are interested in them and I know a lot of "stuffy shirt" guys who really are laid back and have tats as well. One guy had full sleeves so he wore long sleeves every day, even casual Fridays. To me, you can tell a lot about people from their tats. Of course, at me last job we had an on site gym, and there were a lot of people very afraid of me as the big guy with tats lifting heavy. Mainly that was the Pilates group, but still, very typical of those in the corp environment.

I think as long as your able to cover them (if the job requires it) there shouldn't be a problem. Its the tattoos on the neck and face (or any visible tattoos) that alot of people don't understand. Unfortunately alot of companies care more about your appearance more than your work/skill level. You'd be amazed at who has tattoos that you would never think would. This teacher who looks like Ben Stein is covered from the neck down EVERYWHERE but you would never know it because of the dress/grooming requirements from the school. Pretty cool if you ask me.

I'm into tats, but not the piercings as much too. As others have stated if work requires them to be covered up, that's one thing but otherwise more power to ya. I'm in getting a couple this summer, after my wife gives birth to my 2nd son. I want to get something for my 2 boys, still designing the theme but they will be on my upper arms on the underside and wrap around to my shoulder blades and connect in the middle, right now I'm leaning towards a Japanese Dragon connecting them together from head to tail.

My taste changes so fast I never though anything would suit me for life. I do like some tatoos and wouldn't be against it if I felt it had lasting meaning for me.
