OK so, I was driving my 2002 Dodge QuadCab Pickup home from work yesterday & I pull up next to a brand new Mustang Shelby on the highway. Me being a Muscle Car & Mustang guy I decided I would give a thumb-up to let him know I thought his car was cool. Well, He gave me an arrogant yeah I know, whatever half wave back. Shortly after this incident I visualized myself giving the guy the thumb-up & I thought to myself “WHAT A DORK” I must have looked like….

….. So, I ask you:

Is there a cool way to signal “Cool Car”?

Or is that a BIG NO-NO; should you just look & admire but, do not say anything?

lol..i was just talkin about this the other day...its a pet-peeve of mine. Its not so much a thumbs up or a wave ..its more the ones who feel it neccessary to slow down next to you or make you roll down your window just to tell you "cool car" or " i use to have one just like that when i was younger" or "hey what year is that" i cant escape goin for a 10min drive to the corner store without answering one of them. So myself i could live with dorky thumbs up just as long as i dont have to turn down my tunes roll down my window and answer the same question over and over

lol! Guilty of the Borat-ness, too.

We have a Corvette, and I notice other Corvette drivers who I pass on the road do this weird "one-handed-wave-from-the-steeling-wheel" thing. No more..no less. Its kind of odd, I guess.

When I want to compliment a car I see on the road, I wave & sort of point to the car and compliment them, but I dont always think the driver knows what I'm doing. I'm sure I look completely insane.

Once, the driver of this awesome Camaro near where I live followed me home after I saw him at a red light & complimented his car. I guess I made a big deal about it. When I walked down my driveway to see what he wanted, he asked for my phone number. (my husband told him I wasn't allowed to give it out) Since then, I kind of play it a little cooler.

I'm not sure there's a cool way to tell someone on the road you like their car, I sure haven't found a way of doing it yet.

That’s hilarious, lol…… did he think you were coming on to him?

If so, How did you get out of that one?

Yeah, I think so. It was funny. My husband was in the garage & I yelled up the driveway "Honey, is it okay if I give this guy my number?".

We all laughed about it & looked over the car for a little while before he drove away.

i throw up a very short, semi wide eyed, ok sign. index and thumb touching, other three up. im 24 and dont feel too dorky when doin that. just be genuine and play it cool. dont try to be to ecstatic. i dont mind the props but i hate when you go to the gas station and you have to hear all the stories from every hillbilly in site about how they used to have a 427, 4spd blah blah.. i just smile even though i really want to laugh. i wouldnt doubt some of the fishing tails are true but really? lol..

I just give a thumbs up and keep on trucking. I drive my Chevelle all the time and kinda dig it when people give me a thumbs up but it real annoying when someone tries to say something to me on the road or has a conversation with me at gas station, unless of course its a cute chick!:unibrow:

I've just given the thumbs up and mouthed the words "cool car" to someone if I like the car. I've even gotten a few in my Camaro, but I never thought my car looked good enough to deserve it. But I got them anyway. I've often found that some drivers just think that because they've got a cool car that they're better than others. I actually got the most respect from some local 60's Mustang owners while my Camaro was running. One of them made it a point to catch up to me to tell me he liked my car. I thought it was cool. Then again, I'm usually pretty humble about most things. I've just found others to be a-holes about it. If they don't accept the thumbs up, screw 'em. Let them figure out later that you were just being nice and admiring their car. They can feel stupid later.

I'll roll down my window enough to get my arm out and as I pass them give them a thumbs up. This way, if they're an A-hole I don't see it and if not then their happy for the acknowledgement!

That about what i do, just like when I am driving down a farm road, just a small fingers off the wheel but palm still on it wave hello.

 It’s universal and EZ. I was hauling my 68 back home a few weeks ago and I heard a whinny noise next to me. It was three kids in a WRX that must have been pretty modified. I could hear the turbo and blow off valve over my diesel truck when they got on it. They were all looking over giving me the thumbs up with big smiles. It made me feel good to tell the truth. I do the thumbs up when I see a nice car and if they are to cool to care then it's there loss.

Just last night I had a 20 year old kid pull up next to me at a gas station and ask me what my car was. I asked, what year? He said no, what kind of car it is. lol

The Borat thumbs up deal is
