The pursuit of perfection begins with knowing what you really want. Most anyone can build an obvious hot rod, this is an exercise in furtive ingenuity. What started out as building a vintage muscle car that could give modern performers their fair share of shame, has won the Top Gun award at Vettefest Top Gun award at Vettefest Spring 2007 and just recently in Spring 2008, consistently scoring between 996 and 999 out of 1000 possible points. What began as a a typical muscle car project has become a SeriouS 454 LS6 Pro Touring Chevelle that surpasses all others. The secret is in the details.

The body appears stock with improvements to fit and finish the factory never could imagine. The shell was media blasted and primed with PPG DP epoxy primer, the doors, fenders, and deck lid were acid dipped and E-coated. All the original stainless trim is fully straightened and polished. The body was re-assembled and all body gaps engineered to a uniform 3/16" all around. The result is a bank vault feel interior, each door closing with a the single finder "click". Stock color is the iconic Cranberry Red code 75 with black stripes in DuPont two-stage paint, SS Stripes were laid out and painted to match the original factory vinyl, buried under SIX coats of clear. The car was color sanded and buffed to a mirror smooth finish.
Interior:
She is a richly optioned automobile, Cowl Induction, Front Bumper Guards, Power Windows, Rear Defogger, AM/FM/8Track Stereo, Auxiliary Lighting, Tilt Wheel with Comfort Grip Steering Wheel, Strato Bucket Seats, and of course the SS Package. She looks "OE" stock with the fit and finish that is better than factory.
Engine/Drivetrain:

The "512" casting LS6 block bored .060 over with a full roller valvetrain with a .632 lift hydraulic roller cam and a Scat 4.25 stroker crank. GMPP aluminum heads have been port matched to GMPP aluminum high rise dual plane intake, topped off by a classic Holley 850 double pumper. SRP custom pistons keep a great seal with out piston drag thanks to thermal and low friction coatings. Eagle H-beam rods are stout. Moroso scraper pan with baffles keep the oil from slowing down the reciprocating mass while ensuring proper lubrication. Most importantly, she runs cool even sitting in traffic on a hot summer day. Horsepower estimated at 600hp at crank and an estimated 750hp on NOS.
She offers all the power modern performance engineering can provide with a stock sleeper look only the most astute observers will notice. The 150hp shot NOS system is fully functional but the engine should be tuned to run on the bottle. Intake manifold was custom machined and plumbed in lifter valley to hide the system. Engine management is done courtesy of a hidden MSD Digital 6 box mounted in the dash. It is setup to retard w/NOS and limit RPM with brakes applied. The aluminum intake is thermal coated on bottom to block heat and top coated to appear as cast. GMPP heads are also top coated to appear cast and painted engine color.
The internals of the TH400 transmission have been upgraded with Red frictions and Kolene steel clutches, shift kit, and a 2800 stall billet torque converter. A working shift interlock locks gear shifter. The original 12 bolt main was a correct 4:10 Heavy Duty posi rear-end. She now runs a streetable 3:55 Richmond gear and Eaton carbon fiber posi-traction. The original 4:10 gear is included in the sale. Gasses are quickly passed courtesy of a fully ceramic coated exhaust with 3 in x-pipe with O2 provision, 2.5 in tail pipes and dumped on unsuspecting competitors through NOS tips.
Chassis Suspension:

It was important that the suspension points and frame remained unaltered, so the owner chose to QA1 Front Coil-Overs with adjustable shocks coupled with Global West tubular control arms, QA1 adjustable rear shocks, and oversized sway bars by Hellwig. The handling is razor sharp, thanks to the 2.5 turn quick ratio power steering box.
Stopping 600 horses is accomplished with OE parts to simulate a "GM concept" approach. Drilled and slotted 12" front rotors gripped by carbon pads sit up front, the rears are stopped by disc brakes using GM factory parts, 11.5" drilled and slotted rotors, and GM calipers with working parking brake. She also has a functional line lock for the front tires. All brake and fuel lines are stainless. Brake hoses are braided stainless hoses at the wheels. The entire system flows with silicone brake fluid.
The wheels are 17"x 10" custom rims with polished backsides, and hub centric fit. CNC machined center caps with custom made "SS" emblems give this ride a updated classic look. Pay close attention to the details, the valve stem is located behind the spokes with matching "SS" logos on the stem caps. Nitto 555 drag radials 275/40R17 up front and 315/35R17 out back keep the power to the pavement.
What makes her remarkable beyond the tremendous workmanship is the intelligent approach to the performance upgrades. The drivetrain, suspension, and brakes can be brought back to original factory stock appearing SS454 specs in a single weekend.
In addition to two consecutive Chevy Vettefest Top Gun Awards, she also has been elevated to Gold class at Super Chevy-Joliet in both '06 and '07. Awards include Best engine, Best paint, Top Chevelle and more. The entire show display is available for purchase to the buyer of the car. If you want a no-compromises Chevelle LS6 that is All Show, All GO, and is a genuine SS 454- this SeriouS machine is the one to own.
