I can't thank Steven Rupp enough!! My 71 Firebird was my first car and I've had it since high school (1985). Somehow I've managed to keep it all these 22+ years moving around while on active duty in the Air Force. As an enlisted family man on a budget, I've worked on it when time and money have allowed... Seeing my car in the pages of PHR is truly a dream come true!
Thanks again Steven!!

Ty

Current plans are to give my 71 a facelift with a fresh coat of paint and probably a little more time with a long board. The paint in the pics was shot in 1990 and has held up very well but I think it'll pop more with a facelift. Another part of the facelift will be bigger rims/tires/brakes to meet my performance goals.

Goals are to meet or beat C6 Z51 0-60 1/4 and 60-0 performance. Once that's done a stroker and some better heads and possibly a power adder may be in order to take a swing at the Z06. We'll see. It is a street car so I don't want to stray too far from my original Z51 goals. I just want a fun, fast, straightforward driver that looks mean and performs well.

Just gotta decide on a wheel/tire combo so I can order the brakes...

Thanks for all the complements! Much appreciated!

V/R,
Ty

Congrats TY! We still gotta get over to Silver Dollar sometime, perhaps in the fall. Paul went last weekend for test and tune and to teach his nephew how to run the track in his TA.

I checked out your car in the magazine after we exchanged messages. Very nice, I really like those Firebirds.

Ty,
I finally found a store that had PHR (?)- congrats on making it into the mag. It would be fun to have a 70-73 'Bird capable of even running with a Z06- those Z06 'Vette guys are so cocky, they act like they built the car themselves. I like the idea of having A/C as well (why I ripped mine out 20 years ago is beyond me)- a must here in SoCal, most of the year it's in the 80s-100s.

Yep! July issue, page 34... tried to get you, Rocky Rotella and Lee Atkinson some press in the article but Steven Rupp was just too efficient and it had already gone to print when I asked if he could get your names in there.

But for the record... if you need a Holley done for your ride... Jeff (aka Shaker455) is the guy! I've probably got the most tricked out 3310 ever created on my Firebird and I swear it runs just like it's fuel injected!! Thanks again Jeff!

Ty
