I was reading the post about PT Mustangs and wanted to add my $.02.

Hopefully this will stay on track as the last thread started off good then went to ****.

I have a 64 Falcon I am working on. The biggest problem with Fords is the selection of aftermarket suspensions.

You have your basic MII but who wants to put 38 year old technology on their 40+ year old car? (The lower budget crowd I guess).

You next option is modifying the stock stuff and that is where I am. I still sucks after just not as bad as original. My 73 Pinto handles better so.... You can also spend a fortune on TCP or equivalent but it is still a modified stock design.

For those with big budgets you can get Griggs or some of the other custom setups but like I said they are big bucks and a lot of work.

Everybody and their dog makes Chevy front clips and they all bolt in. You can get spindles, different width A arms, big breaks, whatever you need and bolt it on. No wonder they are way ahead of the pack.

The craziest thing ever is that lately I have been having trouble buying parts. I ordered some 345-18's BFG's for the back and got 345-15's. That seemed to take a month to rectify and I never did get any tires. BTW stay away from TDPerformance.com. So then I tried to order a Griggs GR350 torque arm setup, talked to John and he said to email all the particulars and I never heard back. So then I bought a T56 from a guy in Vegas and UPS smashed it to crap breaking the bellhousing and yoke. I am currently trying to get that straightened out.

I've also talked with Kevin Doyle at Global West about suspension parts for vintage Ford muscle. Give Kevin or one of the guys at Global West a call to see if they have anything for your application.

I'd really like to get rid of my shock towers in the process. Global as well as TCP, RRS and Fatman all use the shock tower. AJE is coming out with a front clip but he is not geared to towards turning corners. Griggs uses a small tubular shock mount so I will prob go that direction. The GMax rear setup looks pretty sweet. I have read good things about the Satchel link but have never used one.

Also you may look at JME enterprises.

rrs coil overs will let you notch the shock towers pretty good. The boss 429 mustangs they pushed the shock towers out they look almost like what Griggs does. But i never got to see the front suspension they used tho.Why you need to remove the shock towers for what you putting in it.

I am just going to run a small block but my 289 headers already hit the shock tower now and I would like to eventually put in a windsor though. Besides the increase in driveability I am after the clean open look.

Your headers shouldn't hit them like that unless its the wrong headers or the shock towers have moved in some which happens over time. There was a couple 65 mustang fastbacks with the cammer in them and they removed the shock towers fully i wonder how they did it.This was done in 65 so couldn't been a mustang 2 kit.I'm sure theres a way but mustang 2 kit or notching the shock towers is the only ways i see.Theres other ways but they get pricey fast.
