I had this is the suspension forum, but is more suitable for here. I don;t know how to move the thread, so I am reposting.

I am building a 70 Nova and plan on installing a DSE mini-tub kit. I had the rear end narrowed to 55" (axle flange to axle flange). Does this sound right?

Plan on using a 10" wheel.... maybe 11".

I just had the rear end done in my 68 Acadian (Nova) and it is 52.5" from the housing flange to housing flange. I think this will put it around 57" axle flange to axle flange. I'm also putting in DSE tubs and have 10" rims with a 5.25 backspacing. I haven't got the tubs in yet so I don't know how the tires are going to fit, but you can see some photos on my build link. Hope this helps.

Sounds good, just wait to set it up, measure your backspace and order then rims. 5 1/2" BS 11" rim should be near what you need. Carefully measure your car.

thats funny.
I just got my rear today.
its for my 74/72 nova w/ DSE 3" drop.
I had Diff works make me a 10bolt with 3:73, TA cover, 31 spline and rear disc c5 brakes with e-brake in hub, for 500 hp.... they narrowed it to 55". I asked for 54" but with the brakes it came to 55". Which is fine b/c then it would hit the leaf springs. I plan on doing a 19x 11 wheel with a 315 tire and 5" backspacing with a deep rim look around 6" lip.

Glad to see I am in the right range...... the g-bar bracket comes real close, so I am glad it isn't any narrower.

Are those stock framerails? WHat did you have to do, so that the 12" would fit?

A different question.....

I am just needing the car to roll around right now, and it is a bare shell, with the subframe attached. (With engine and trans)

Would it be alright to run a tube from one axle to another inside the housing, just so that the car is mobile? The axles would be inside the tube of course, and the backing plates would be holding the axles in at the flange.
