Here are some pics of the new DSE dash that I put together. Since I needed several new gauges to work with the LS7, different heater controls, etc, etc, it made more sense to sell the other dash complete and start from scratch. Getting inspiration from Stuart's dash out of the Alumin8r and Payton's dash out of his car, I went with a two tone scheme of satin black and satin grey. I had Kurt at Autokraft prep and paint it and the grey is the same paint that's on my subframe. I think it works great with the silver gauges, a nice contrast, yet it's on the subtle side. Can't wait to get it in the car and see what it looks like at night.

Now I can really get after the wiring in the interior of the car.

Looks killer.....I noticed the gauge on the far left :unibrow: A little extra when needed ( or wanted ) is always good.

Looks awesome.
Can I make a suggestion. I'd swap the fuel pressure and fuel level so that the fuel pressure gause is close to the Nitrous Gauge. Those 2 kind of go together.

I thought about that, I've even moved the gauges around a few times, and I'm still not 100% that what you see is how I will have it. You have a good point, but I was leaning towards the gauges that are more critical on the right and the gauges that are more static on the left. I dunno, sounds good I guess.

If they are like what I think they are, Radio Shack sells something like that for their LED's.

Scott, that dash looks great. I can't wait to see it in the car.

They're from Kwik Wire. I've had them on the shelf for a few years but never installed them. I think they look great. Here's a link to their store:

The blue is really bright, I'll have to install a current limiting resistor to tone it down a bit. Blue LED's work a bit different than your standard LEDs, they have a voltage drop of close to 4 volts instead of the typical 1.8 to 2 volts, so that needs to be taken into account when calculating needed resistance.

Everything is going to be black, nothing wild, just detailed nicely. :)

Looks great, Scott. I would group critical functions where your eyes will fall to naturally. I also oriented my gauges so the 'normal' readings have the needles vertical. Allows for quick glance checking.

Well, more progress. Took these pics before I had the sending units connected, but got that taken care of yesterday. Now I just need to weld the bung in the exhaust for the wideband...

Too sweet! I gotta tell ya, I think one of the coolest aspects of our cars is the way the dash reads at night. It's like driving a fighter jet! Nice job.

As the owner of a '68 I truly get jealous over the dash layout in a '69. That DSE insert look killer and I love the two tone paint.

I really dig the 68 dash too, especially stock vs. stock. But when I see these DSE inserts all loaded up then I agree it is nice to have all that info right there in your face.

Scott - I can't wait to see the interior all done. Inspiring. :hail:
