Hi everyone! I was looking into building a custom sway bar for my truck and i was hoping to get your opinions and comments. I know that i should use a splined shaft but not sure where to buy everything? Do you guys recommend anyone in particular? Also where to buy the sway bar ends that would mount to the splined shaft? Any comments on installation or parts please let me know. Thanks

Josh

Ditto on that. Any input would be appreciated. I'm going to do a search and see what may have been posted in the past .

Josh,

You need to look at Stock Car Products. Try this link http://www.stockcarproducts.com/ftsusp.htm

Hope it helps.

Good call Scott, I forgot about that one. It's been too long since the racing days!

In your opinion what do you prefer. The solid ones or the hollow ones? Also what thickness are you guys runnin?

Josh,

It comes down to getting the proper spring rate at the wheel. This has to do with the spring or torsion rate of the bar, the length of the arm and where it hooks to the control arms. In my racing days we experimented alot. We used soft springs and stiff bar and visa versa. We always tried to go with the hollow bars when possible for weight savings. In circle track racing we had good luck with soft springs and used a stiff bar for roll stiffness. Some one with more road coarse or autox experience will hopefully chime in. The key to good handling simply comes down to balance. For a given level of cornering or "G's" acting on the cg you want the roll stiffness to be equal front and rear. In the circle track world we tried not to roll more than 2 degrees. This kept the geometry front and rear more predictable. Sorry for the book, but I guess it's not as simple as hollow or solid. Again hopefully someone with more experience with these types of vehicles will chime in. How's things progressing by the way?
