Hey guys,

I have a 65 Buick Riviera and I want to put the front and rear suspension from a 90 Corvette under it. The car "should" be around the same weight as an Impala when the heavy Buick drivetrain gets replaced (3400-3600lbs). I'm worried that the car might be too heavy to put the IRS under. I know it will be fine for daily driving, but if I have 4 people in the car and a trunk full of luggage on a road trip I don't want something to snap back there. Does anybody know how rugged these rears are? I plan on making a coil over mount that ties into both the shock mount and the leaf spring mount on the rear knuckles (spindles, or whatever you call them on an IRS). I've seen them under trucks and nomads, but a lot of them are trailer queens that rarely see a driver let alone passengers.

Thanks,

OSSS

we did use one under a trailer queen nomad , it scaled 4020lbs . i do know they dont like ariride because of the scuff factor in the rear .
we also have 57 in the shop now that has c4 and a newman chassis with atleast 15k miles on it

I wouldn worry to much, my friend have had one in his 57 pickup for fifteen years now. For some years we used it for years to trailer a supercomp dragster in an enclosed trailer.

take care!

Thanks for the replies guys. I might scratch the Dana 36 and just run a 8.5" rear in the back and the vette stuff up front. I'm thinking about running air ride on the car in the future.

another option is a Jag unit, its a dana 44, and the xj6 is simmilar in weight to your car.. super easy to mount and shorten too
