So I was working on the car today and found that the quarter panels I put on a couple years ago with glue weren't holding at all, so I've decided to get new quarters and weld them on this time. I have a couple questions about installing factory quarters. I started to heat up and remove the lead at the top of the sail panel. How is the quarter panel attached to the car once the lead is removed? Also, how do I attach the new quarter to drip rail. The last time I did it, I cut the panel so it was close but I would rather not cut the new quarters at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Under the lead there will be several layers of metal roof inner and 1/4 getting the 1/4 layer out sucks and getting the new one under is not easy. We usally butt the top seam or trim it down and lay it on the roof edge about a 1/8 inch overlay this will take a little hammering to fit good. The seam along the drip rail is not to bad, trim the quarter down as far as you can and take a cut off wheel and carefully cut the part out of the quarter in the drip rail. When you put the 1/4 on take the edge that goes in the drip rail and take your hole punch and notch about 2/3 of the hole on the edge, you dont have enough room for the whole hole. When you weld this area on the drip edge get a piece of copper 1 inch wide copper and bend it almost completly together so you can put it on the drip rail edge when you weld. weld dont stick to the copper so you dont gobber up the drip edge. I hope this helps. There are a lot of pics on my website of Camaros with the 1/4s off that might help also.
