I have a good friend who has a C5 Vette and bought the C5 Z06 brake setup for his C5. He said he got everything needed to change his out, but he does not want to do it (not very mechanically inclined). He asked me to help him and in return I can have his C5 rotors and loaded calipers. Does anybody know how hard it is to change the brakes on a C5 out?

Also I know I will need Drum hubs, and I am running 18" wheels, so I should not have any problems there. But anything else I need?

I'm looking to helping with the swap in 2-3 weeks..

it will be very very very simple to change to c5 zo6 from c5 since the only difference it the rotors are cross drilled/slotted (same exact size) and the calipers only difference is that they are red.lol. so basically it will take just as much time it would to change the pads.

for you- youll need what you mentioned and new abundments cause he will be reuseing his.

skatinjay27 got it right. We just added the C5 brakes to my car and it was straight forward. Feel free to send me a PM if you run into any sangs.

Are you running discs now?

It's going on a 68 Camaro, current setup is front discs, the SSBC kit, stock replacement, and rear drums. I am also getting a new rearend since the one in the car is a 6 cylinder 8.2 10 bolt....

Spiffav8 - I might give you a shout once I get the parts for the swap. I also remembered I need to get the brackets from Speedtech or similar....

So it should be a straight forward process, that's what I like to hear...:D

What Rear End Will You Be Running? Will You Be Running An E-brake?
I Have A 68 Camaro With Ats Spindles In Front And A 12 Bolt Rear. I Know Kore3 Sells Front And Rear Brackets For C5 Brakes, But Has Is No E-brake.

I too used the Kore3 brackets and it has the E-brake, but I need a different cable set up for it.

Correct Me If I Am Wrong, But The C5 Rear Calipers Do Not Have An E-brake Attachment. The E-brakes Have Shoes That Sit Under The Rotors That Attach To A Backing Plate. I Believe They Will Have The E-brake Shoe Set Up For A 9" Rear Soon, But Not For A 10/12 Bolt. As Far As I Know To Use Rear C5 Brakes You Will Need To Fab Your Own E-brake System If You Are Using A Gm 10/12 Bolt.

Forgive me for my lack of technical knowledge here. This has been a real adventure for me and I'm still learning. On the set up I have the E-bakes shoes sit under the rotor cap like a C. A small arm (like an L) come out of the backing plate and is supposed to attach to the cable. I haven't gotten to the point of attaching the cable and I have been told that I'll need to install a custom set up for it to work. I'd attach a picture to better illustrate what I am doing such a poor job of describing, but I'm on the road and don't have a picture from that shows what I'm talking about. I of course could be totally wrong and way out in left field.

I suggest calling Tyler at ATS (702-245-6305) and asking him more info about this. I know he's installed this set up on a few cars.

I just found this thread and it has some great photos. It's the same set up that I have with the exception of the plate that attaches it to the rear end.

I was down at ATS last week and he had intstalled the C5 set up on a 69 Camaro with a Fab 9. The backing plate is just like the one in the pictures on the thread I posted. It's really a nice set up and real slick to install. That and it looks cool. lol

Give Tyler a call, he's really good to deal with and always willing to give advice and help with know how.
