Nice work Ben! I like that people are starting to think outside the box!! Plenty of good cars to start with out there.

Thanks guys!

When I get a chance to do these Dream Car submissions, I never do a mainstream car. I did a ProStreet 65 Cutlass, a 72 Charger and now this. I've always been the black sheep and my taste in cars is the same. I like everything that's marginally popular. I like the challenge of making people think twice about a car that is always past over when you walk down an aisle at a car show. It's easy to make the popular cars look good, everyone likes them anyway. Looks like I need to break down and do something for the blue oval boys next.

Wow! That looks cool! Great job. I agree with you about your subject matter. I always like a challenge.:unibrow:
Again, looks great. Is it going to be built?

Thanks Mike, yes this will be built. I'm actually scouring Craigslist and ebay for one already.

That's one I wouldn't mind building either. I have to finish my roadrunner first. So it's going to be a while. Dammit

Just got my copy yesterday. Looks killer as always Ben. Great job.
Your obvious talent aside, I always like seeing your stuff because of the 'leftfield' vehicle choices.

As always, amazing job, Ben! I love the name, too!

You know, I also really like the background that you used behind the car.

Thanks Scott. Glad you like the name, I was worried. It's sort of a play on the way drop "R"s off of words in MA. Plus I've always been into ancient history stuff...I'm a geek like that.

Ben that is sweet! I like the grill in the valance really changes the front to more european looking. What does the back of the car look like?

Very cool rendering Ben. So does this mean you will not build the Nova?

You da man

Very cool! Though, I think that might be the worlds largest two-seater!

The rear isn't totally worked out yet. The rear doesn't need much other than tucking the bumpers a little and a couple small details. I really like the sunken vertical taillights on these so I'll probably keep them.

I was going for a more European look too, thanks.

Al-I'm on the fence with the Nova.

Bill-"Roadster" may not be the best name for it. It actually still has the back seats, they're concealed by the 2 piece tonneau cover. This is another area that's not completely worked out. If it gets built it'll probably evolve.

That is just awesome!! I have always though about cars GM should have built and didn't. The Monte Carlo convertible and a 66-67 Nova/Chevy II convertable are two they missed. And you nailed it!

Sweet! So, if I am correct, you will gut a Malibu shell to convert the car to a convertible?

From my understanding, it is not too hard to do. There was an article somewhere were someone took a 70 Cutlass convert, and put the top on a 70 monte. This left him with a working convertable. I cant find it right now, but here are some pics.

From what I've heard, it's better to use a 70-72 Malibu because of the resulting surface of the rear deck and rear-side window geometry. I think this conversion was done by an earlier Malibu or Cutlass. I highlighted what I'm talking about with the red arrow. A later Malibu donor will make this look smoother. Don't worry, I'll be sure to grab some unrestorable basketcase.

I found it. It was a 68 Cutlass, but it sounds like it was for the top. I am sure you will be able to make it work.:D

It looks to me like a 70-72 Skylark has a smoother curve above the shoulder of the quarter like Montes. All the other A-bodies seem to kick up to a corner at the back corner of the quarter window and transition onto the decklid. Looks like I'll be searching for one of these too if I decide to do it.

That's funny to be reading this because we actually have a 71 Monte for sale. :)

It's a friend of ours that works at Budnik that needs help selling it, so he called me this past weekend and I picked it up from him at the GoodGuys event.

If you are interested, give me a call Ben.
