I need to replace the full trunk pan in my 68 Camaro. I know I need to remove the tail pan, but I was curious if the new pan will fit without removing the frame rails. I'll be removing the inner tubs at the same time for the DSE mini-tub conversion, so that should free up some room. I even thought of removing part of the section on the new pan where the DSE crossmember mounts before installing. Any thoughts/previous experiences?

Yes they will go in with the frame rails in. We usally put the in to the back of the cross member from dse. Here is some pics that might help http://www.smittyscustomauto.com/subpage16.html

Smitty,
Great pictures! One more question. My car is a 68, but I am relocating my shocks like the 67. Should I just order the 67 trunk pan? Is there any difference b/t the 67 and 68 structurally? I know the shock towers are different, and there is some sort of hump that the crossmember cuts throuh, but what else?

Are you going to install the upper shock mount from the DSE kit? If so then it doesn't matter as you cut out that portion anyway. If not and you're going to use the stock upper mounts then from what I recall the trunk pan (at least the one I bought from Classic) doesn't go that far forward to include the shock mounts.

I'll be using the DSE crossmember, but I'll be using the full trunk pan. I think you used the center section patch.

67 AND 68 are the same you can get a complete floor with tank braces and tail panel inner section. I can supply you with any sheet metal you need.
