I wasn't going to post any pics yet, as the paint has not been color-sanded and buffed, which makes a huge difference. The painter and I decided to do the color sand and buffing in a couple months, after the paint has settled completely. I changed my mind and will post a few pics to give an idea.

The original color I bought was the darker rendering color, Infiniti diamond graphite. But we did a spray out and the color looked off, so I took it back and had then tint it. Then did another spray out and it now looked very metallic(y). So I went with another color I really liked, darker, but very pretty. BMW sparkling graphite is the choice, has a very fine metallic and mica (pearl). Beautiful in the sun, but kinda dark in the shade. I'm still very happy with it and Jim Ramirez (my painter) did an awesome job getting the car straight and color shot. Here's a few pics, will have many more as the car goes back together for Power Tour.

yeah, I already have the Vintage Wheel five spokes and was also looking at the Forgeline 10 spokes. The darker paint color may change that though, might not want a dark wheel on the car with darker paint. Maybe keep lighter spokes, not sure.

Very distinctive color you picked, Jody. I like it.

I agree, you don't want to go too dark with the wheels now that you've got a darker shade on the exterior. Although the 10 spoke wheels might look good in body color. Aside from that, maybe brushed aluminum.

Great car. It'll be turning heads real soon.

With that color I am thinking a set of (10) spoke ZX3Ps, Satin black centers, Diamond Cut Edges (HOTT, HOTT, HOTT!!!), with brushed lips and satin black inners. SMOKIN!

What brakes are you running? Red calipers would be cool, Silver calipers might match well behind the black wheels

Oh yeah, Congratulations getting over this huge hurdle.

Frank, I think you're a bit more progressive and modern-thinking than me............. :D Remember, I'm kinda old, and a bit low key. I do like the ten spoke ZX3P's, but maybe silver or grey centers with polished lips.

The Germans bred those wiener dogs to hunt badgers. Little legs and long to go down the burrows and flush one of the meanest animals around. Only dog that has ever bit me (besides a back road rotty while cycling as a teen) was a little dachsund. Not really my style but I do dig those funny little dogs.

Oh and the paint color looks fantastic. Leaning towards something close to that one day.

Hey Jody,

Nice choice on the color. The dark charcoal gray will give the car some more attitude for sure - or more "Malitude"?
Now this is just my 2 cents, The HREs are nice wheels but I think visually a thin multi-spoke wheel on this particular car might actually take a little agressiveness (is that a word?) away from the overall look. I won't type my opinion on TTs. BUT, however I do think a chunky 5-spoke would look good. I think you are also on the right track as far as a brighter wheel finish to help contrast the body color.
Something that might look real hot with your dark gray metallic exterior color might be some sort of fat lip billet wheel with a polished lip, and then finish off the spokes in a satin magnesium finish? Then maybe pick up some of that magnesium satin in the engine compartment and maybe the interior?

Nice choice in wheels. Those are my personal favorites. I'd get those if I could afford them with the gunmetal centers. I'd say to tell them I sent you, but they wouldn't know me from Bill in Alaska. I'd also say to tell them Bill Howell sent you, but then they'd charge you extra. Either way, I think they'd look great on your car.

Jody,

I think those 5 spoke Forgelines are nice. I have also thought about those or the ZE Tach wheel
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/tach_bg.gif

I called them the other day and they are about $725 a wheel for two piece version. It's less than three piece wheels but it don't seem much cheaper compared to the 3 PC. Forgelines. The three piece wheel just sounds cooler but for me, I just don't know that I would ever need to change offsets. However you could put hub caps and that car is still gonna be one the best PT Chevelle's.

eville

I'm definitely a fan of the Forgeline. The renderings I've seen have 5 or 12 spoke wheels. Do you have a 'chop with the ZX3Ps in silver? The SP3Ps look nice too....

Really Nice Jody, that color is both discrete and outstanding. If I can come with a suggestion and if you have considered stripes I would have done that in a just a touch lighter grey.

For wheels stick with the original plan but paint the centers the same color as the car.

I can't afford HRE, but Forgeline makes a nice split 5 spoke with silver or gray centers and polished lip that I really like.

Yeah too busy buying trannys for the truck eh...

Those wheels really make the look of the car Jody.

thanks Allen, Tom, Steve, Jannes, Stuart, much appreciated. Wheel choice is as tough as color with me, but a lighter wheel seems to work with the new darker color. I can get a good price on Forgelines which is why I'm leaning that way, plus they look great.

I'm going through the same dilema Jody. The dark wheels would look good - but thinking of a lighter brush finish as well. Etheir way...Kick ass. Just a different attitude..Or Malitude as Johnny said.

Come on...Step up like Scott & get the HRE's. We all want to be like him!!

Yeah, they have a new wheel I hadn't seen before that looks cool. The first one is the one I like, called the Mag. The second one is the always nice FM5.

I also have Carter working on new renderings with the Fikse Mag and the Forgeline split five spoke with my new car color. Probably have to make another poll.............:D
