View Full Version : Big Turbos, Bad Car!
Our buddy Nick Scavo will be driving street-legal drag verteran Spiro Pappas' new Camaro in NMCA / ORSCA races this year... the Hemi-headed big block and twin 88's make this Camaro look like a Muscle Machine die cast!

dont sound like pappas having someone else drive his ride the wreck last year might have shook him up a lil . but he couldn't have picked a better driver than scavo
Spiro is driving his other Camaro - the single turbo car, and Nick will be driving the new car. It's a 2-car team for 2008.

OMG Wow !
That will be a wild ride for sure. Reminds me of an x-ray photo in Hot Rod of some guy with 2 bowling balls ...... maybe that was Nick's x-ray.
We'll be expecting some video of a pass !

You can bet on that. We'll be shooting coverage at the ORSCA race held a the YearOne experience for sure, plus some interviews and photos on our site.

It's obviously not, but it still has working lights and stuff. I called Nick tonight and posed some of the questions posted here, and then posted the interview / call on our site. You can hear a little of the history of Spiro and his cars, Nick and his doings, and the latest on the new car in the interview in this link... it's a pretty funny piece.

I saw the finished car at the Chevy Vette fest and lets just say, It ruined me for all other turbo cars for life. I'll never be the same. Can't wait to see it go down the track.
Met Nick at the same event, he's a really cool dude. Good for him getting a ride like that.

Man, I gotta get me a pair of those :wow: .
I remember back in the '90s they had some really awesome cars. That was back when small tire stuff was fairly new. If you were running high 8's you were really flying. Then came the EFI and turbos...:hail:

After googling Skinny kid racing I found out that the shop is 10 min from my house. I dropped by to take a look at their operation. The guys at the shop were very nice and did not mind giving me a quick tour. Needless to say the stuff they were working on was insance.
That's cool. I am glad they took some time with you. They are a really talented group up there!

I saw one of the mustangs they build in Fontana at a PSCA race. It was an awesome piece.

Nick just sent me this email...
"Well, after 80 hours of work, we finally got it on the dyno and running.....only pulled it a little (between 4000-7500) just to warm it up to we could lash the valves and check everything
The Fast Times built, Sonny headed, 548 cubic inches, with twin 88's with ONLY 2 pounds of boost( waste gates wide open), it made 1009 horsepower at 7500 and it still hadn't gotten to peak torque, so it looks like the motor will go to 9000-9500 or so and with some boost it should make a little more...lol
the goal is a reliable 2800 horsepower at only 25lbs of boost.
I'm gonna have my hands full this year....LOL
Nick"
