Who has used both and which did you prefer? I can't stand to leave the 2.56 open in the convertible, so the parts are going in a box to save and a more respectable gear set is going in.

I second that. We put a tru-trac in Paul's chevy II and it's smooth as silk too. Joe

Well I guess that settles it. I had pretty much made up my mind to run a Tru-Trac, but this just confirms it. Thanks guys.

Had both and the tru-trac blows it away.

First post I think but long time lurker :-).

Anyone think it would be possible to convince Eaton to build a 35spline trutrac? There is always a lot of interest in a stronger 9" unit. I think all they have is 31spline. It would be nice to have a 35spline unit so it would be feasible to have 2 centers that could be swapped out without having to swap axles too. You could have 1 trutrac and 1 spool both 35 splines. Right now I'm leaning towards 12 bolt with 33 spline trutrac but I'm afraid it just won't last if I go to the track.

The 33 spline 9" axles will probably be fine... if you buy good axles. (Mark Williams-- Period. The 300M axles are really tough.)

And I would not do a 33 spline 12-bolt... The axle diameter is getting to be so large the carrier diameter under the carrier bearings starts to get thin and you now have a new failure point.
