Active suspension?

Have any considered some kind of Active Suspension. A lot of production cars have it today and it would probably be possible to take one such system out and adapt to a PT-car.

Or some clever guy could probably come up with some kind of kit for it based on production parts. Probably the hardest part would be the software. Our cars would most likely need other parameters than a production vehicle.

It would be real cool if such a system would be available. The handling would be awesome and with a good tuning it would be both comfortable in cruising speeds and necessary stiff when driving hard.

I remember the extremely smooth riding Wiliams F1 from the early 90's running Active Suspension before they banned it.

What do you guys think about it.
Another Hi-Tech thing that we could benefit from.

The list of production cars that use active suspension isn't very long, and they all come from companies with gigantic engineering teams. Unfortunately I think it would cost so much to develop something specifically for our cars that the price would be obscene.

I could see some one adapting a factory setup for use in a custom car, but that's about it. It's cool in theory though, and I would love to see it happen. I think Pro-Touring is all about embracing (good) modern technology!

The 90´s williams renault used only a hydraulic cylinder, no shock and no spring.. both were simulated by the valves controlling oil flow to and from... takes expensive programming and exensive hardware...

the corvettes "sky hook" and many other new car "adjustable suspension" are electronic dampers filled with are a ferromagnetic fluid that change viscosity as it is exposed to increasing magnetic fields.. this could be relatively cheaply be modified to a muscle car.. it only requires a certain voltage to attain a certain damping... hardly rocket science, and within the reach of regular people..

and the last one is the hydro-pneumatic suspension employed on citroens.. the Activa.. this is also prety high tech and requires multible encoder feedback and programming to get it to work.. i only think you could get it to work if you butchered a xantia (think it weighs about the same as a 1 gen) and transplanted Everything... ! it would give you variable rideheight, no body roll and smooth ride, awesome brakes! forget hydraboost.. and all the trouble of a citroen,, yikes

I thought the Corvette setup is not truly active suspension. They just have variable pressure shocks, and from what I understand wouldn't this be like the poor man's psuedo active suspension? In any event we've gutted a bunch of them, and I have yet to see one with that suspension.
