I didn't see an exhaust system section so I apologize if this doesn't fit. I have a hole in one of my headers so I'm looking for a nice replacement set. Accually my whole system is pretty old and rusty so a complete set up would be ideal. I would like to be able to do the install myself with no welding. I have a 69 Firebird 400 w/ a muncie 4 spd and power steering.

For headers it depends on what hads / exhaust ports you have. For exhaust we have been installing and selling a lot of Magnaflow. It is a screamin deal for a stainless sytem for aluminized $$$$$
We can do a complete 3" Magnaflow system with polished mufflers and X Pipe for only $630. 2 1/2" is is only $490 and free shippingAnd yes you can bolt it on, but you may have to trim a pipe or two as there is no way to know where every header collector lands.

what benifits/drawbacks with the larger 3" system?

Draw backs is routing, bigger pipes means tigher routing. Also 3" is a lot more money. If you are not making 500+ horsepower, you DO NOT need 3".
Tonight I will have some pictures and sound clip of a project we just finished with a 383 and a Magnaflow system

I have a 67 Firebird and after using 2 different brands of header I have decided to use the reproduction RamAir exhaust manifolds, they last forever. I concur with Prodigy on the rest of the exhaust system.

I was looking at the repo manifolds too. What probs were you having w/headers? Also which manifolds are required for the non-ramair heads?

Here is the Magnaflow 3 inch system mentioned above on a 68 Camaro we finished today. They fit really nice. We still need to trim the tailpipes a bit here, we will cut them off even with the edge of the quarter panel.
I wanted to get a sound clip, but the owner drove away before I got to do one

The issues that I had with headers was fit and durability. Ramair Restorations has the reproduction long branch manifolds for D-port heads. I like the idea of headers but the lack of durability and the aggravation of replacing them is permanently solved with reproduction manifolds.

Frank would the 2-1/2" system work with a mini tub?
