Newbie here looking for help piecing together a disc brake set up in my car. I have Gen 1 camaro with a ford 9 inch. I'm looking to do a drum to disc conversion. I would like to run c4 brakes. I'm looking for some guidance in locating the necessary brackets for the calipers. A list of parts needed would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

We need more details on the 9. Chevy ends? Ford ends? Large? small? Is the rear housing narrowed to 1st gen specs?
Also disc mounting flange to housing end distance.

The problem I'm having is a lack of knowledge+bought someone else's half completed project. I believe the ends are large ford. The length of the 9 inch is about 40-46 depending on where i measure from. Here is a pic, hoplefully it will help to determine what parts I will need.

Thanks again

I think you are right.

Here is a chart to be sure.

You would have to modify the backing plate but it is do able. Are you fixed on C4? You can modify a 98+ Camaro backing to fit or go with a Wilwood set up that is made for 9's.

Do you have the axles yet?

I'm open to suggestions. I already have the axles.

Hi

I fabed my own brackets. It was very easy.

Tools:
Migwelder.
Angelgrinder.
A holesaw in correct size. (Heavy duty)
Some kind of measuring device.
Misc handtools.

Material:

5mm steelplate.
Some thickwall steel tubing for spacing the caliper for correct alignment.

I did it for a 10 bolt but it is not hard for the 9" what I can se on the pic.

Thing is he is going to have to nail the axle hub and housing flange surface to get the right caliper bracket spacing.

Find out what the distance from your axle hub to housing flange is.

Here's another alternative...... http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=13279

I'm gonna try to pull the wheel and get the measurements tomorrow. I saw that add, very tempting but that's a little out of my price range right now.
