Very nice! High five! [/borat]

Looks like a sweet project. How heavy do you think it will be?

unfortunatly it's going to be a tank, i havn't found many ways to cut weight so i'm very open to suggestion. right now the only thing i can think of is lightening the huge metal front bumper, i saw a guy on one of these forums who took a hole saw to it and it looked good and shaved a few pounds off. but other than that i've got nothing.

but i don't really have a realistic guess at the weight, but i'll get it on a scale as soon as it's mobile

Awesome project.

There are a ton of threads on losing weight on 2nd gens over at nastyz28.

Wow, looks awesome!! More pics, please!

What all can you get for fiberglass parts? Hood, fenders and decklid?

that is comming out real nice. keep the pics comming. how much something like that cost minus the engine.

thanks guys
I'm gonna wait it out until anvil gets some cf stuff for 2nd gens. but i'll definatly check out nastyz28

i'll post more pics as i get more done.

for me it didn't cost much, my father and i bought it in 1998 as a complete POS for 500$ and did a low budget resto in my uncle's body shop and had lots of great help from the guys who knew what they were doing. so it pretty much cost a set of fenders, a windshield and paint +500$. my dad rebuilt the 350 when he was in trade school for next to nothing.

here's the wheels going on it, thanks to Travis B:

I plan on doing the same with my front bumper. I'm going with a fiberglass hood and I removed all the heater and stereo stuff. If you cage the car you can take out the heavy door crash bars and the inner fenders. It may be a the same in terms of weight, but you'll be more rigid and your doors should close better! haha

Impressive set-up!!!
Did you do all of the fab work yourself?
What thyp of HP output are you looking at with your setup?
Your pics inspire me to finish my vehicle...
Keep it up, bro.

I like the door idea, and it will be getting a cage at some point. as for the heater, i'm not sure if i'll keep it or not (i'm not even sure if i have room in there as it is to hook up hoses)

anyone know if it would be legal or even practical to make that huge bumper out of carbon fiber instead of the enourmous plate of steel?

i'm gonna look at it this evening and see if it can be done

I was reading up on that "MegaSquirt" computer. Is it a stand-alone system that you build yourself? Any experience with it yet? Thanks

no experience with megasquirt, just read what i can. apparrently it's pretty good, i mean it's probably no tec3r but definatly worth the money. you can either buy it as a kit or there are a few people that build them (who know what they're doing) and sell them ready to install.

I thought megasquirt was dead and VEMS was the big ticket now

Never heard of VEMS. Megasquirt II is out now too, but i'm gonna try mine first, if it sucks i'll skip the cheap stuff and go for FAST or something

Thanks Teddy

My first post over here.

If anyone needs help with Megasquirt, send me a PM. Just searching threads, I see there's a lot of misinformation about the various EMS's available on the market. I've tuned with most of them, generally ALL will be able to make your car run correctly if you're aware of the nuances of each. It's important to understand, a first time EFI install and tune has a steep learning curve... which is a far bigger factor than which system you end up using,

steep learning curve is right, i think i will be trying to fire it up in the next few weeks so when that fails horribly i will probably get on you case haha
thanks alot for the offer
right now i have a complete guess megatune set up using the ve table calculator and all the other inputs that i hope will at least get it started.
do you have any idea how accurate the ve calculator is? also do know of any connonly missed inputs that i may have forgotten, i seem to always find little background things that havn't been set when i come across them reading about other peoples attempts

can't believe i finally got this thing started! megasquirt came through for me! I will post a good update in a couple days when i get off work. But damn i'm excited

now i have to learn to tune it.
but for a first try it was impressively smooth
...but i wouldn't want to be my neighbour

I was just searching "BBC Twin Turbo Megasquirt" and I came across this thread.

Nice Car!

You have not posted in a while and I was wondering how your car was running.

Have you got it tuned yet?

Are you using the Megasquirt to deliver your fuel and ignition?

What are you running for your ignition system? Locked out distributer? Crank trigger? MSD? EDIS?

What senors are you running? TPS, 02, MAP?

What brand and # injectors are you using?

I am building a Twin Turbo 427 big block Chevy. I bought a pair of turbos and older Gale Banks set up that runs two 850 Holleys draw through. I purchased an EFI manifold yesterday and a I am converting it to EFI. I am going to machine a throttle body out of one inch aluminum using 4 large quadrajet butterflies, a GSXR TPS I have laying around and sandwich it between the intercooler and manifold. I have been reading about megasquirt for a long time now but have not had the opportunity to work with one yet. I am going to buy one soon and any help/ info would be greatly appreciated.
