69 camaro new roof

I have to purchase a new roof skin, looking for two things (1) whos got the best price/delievery time on body parts (2) trying to get on idea what most shops would charge for that type of install. I never had to replace that part on any of my cars before so I need to make sure body shop is in line.

goodmark's roof fits killer, and really is a easier job, alot easier then it looks

probably 25-40 hr removal /install depending how far you take bodywork to(on the sail panels)

After the emersion dunk its ending up being worse than i thought. It originally had a vinyl top. The original owner most of skim coated the crap out of it.More funds not expected including drivers door skin. A lot of stuff is really noticeable now that its bare metal. The floor pans were patched in also, probably prior to when they came out with one floor units. Ill be heading to daves shop sat. to start gutting. Check your PM later on

I need to roof my 69. Already doing full quarters and drip rails. Anyone know how the roof is affixed to the drip rails? Also, any other tips or tricks for the self-motivated?

I can see that there are just spot welds around the front and rear windshield area, as well as the a-pillar and sail panels..

There is a lot of spot welds along the drip rail. If you drill them out it will look like swiss cheese. I used a small cutoff wheel to grind them down one at a time after using a flap wheel to clean out the seam sealer and make the spot welds visible. It's time consuming but not difficult.

I got mine from NPD and it fit perfect. I don't think there should be any welds on the drip rails (at least my factory roof skin didn't). The roof skin just sits in the drip rail gutter and is seam sealed. It should be spot welded along the front and rear window, the pillars, and the quarter panels.

it is spot welded on the drip rail as said above, use a cut off wheel to cut it off, then grind remaining lip as best you can, i weld the front and rear window openings and the 1/4 seams then use structual glue to glue the drip rails down.

This should be easier for me because I don't have to worry about saving the drip rails, as I will be replacing them with re-pops. They were almost non-existant near the sail panels!!

As jake said there were weld on mine along the drip rail but not all the way. (front, back middle) I removed the roof skin and ground down the drip rails. Since I am not a welder. The shop where the car is, is doing the new roof skin install. I am not having any drip rails and Im going with flush glass. So Im leaving that to the experts.
