What size wheel and tires does people with mustangs run?

Im looking at 17x7 4"BS and 17x8 4 1/2" or 5" BS

I really want to run around a 27" rear tire 255/50/17.

There was just a great article in one of the Mustang mags (last month or so)on wheel offsets etc. for 15-17 inch wheels. They used a 67 or 68 fastback and literally tried three different combos--that article should be helpful. 17's looked best IMO. Also I think teh co-vintage wheel Works (in AZ if memory serves me) makes "bolt on" wheels for Mustangs and have standard offsets and custom stuff. Pretty reasobale and have a set of 16 x 8on my 68.

We went with a 17x7 front wheel w/ 4.25" bs on a 225/45/17, and an 18x8 rear w/ 4.75 bs on a 245/45/18.
We also installed an 8.8 rear out of a 94 Cobra that measures 1" wider.
Our rear wheels actually have a different offset than what you need.
On any 8" wide wheel for a 65-70 stang should yield a 4.5" bs.
See the charts below (I hope the links work).
They are extremely helpfull.
