I have had a few people ask me if that was my car on eBay...yes it is. I had my friend that lives in Ms. to list it for me.
Why do I have it up for sale? The project took on a life of its own. I started out 6 years ago to build a nice driver that I could take to track days, drag strip, Maxton Mile and terrorize the streets. What I ended up with was car car that has all of the pieces that I would use for the above events, but way too nice paint and way too much NOS sheet metal.
The sage advice of Frank from Prodigy told me a few months back...it is just paint, that can be re-shot. Which he is 100% correct. So here is the deal, I figured that I would put the car up for sale in a few places. If it sells, I am happy because I will have another 69 project in my garage within a month with a much shorter build time. If it does not sell, I am happy because I just spent 6 years building this car and now I am going to drive the piss out of it. Either way I win, which is a good thing.
I commend Steve Rupp for what he is about to do to Penny (his car not the new copy assistant) and I may be doing the same thing very soon. I do not want to be wondering 2 years from now when the car is not fresh and wore from abuse if maybe I could have sold it and done this to another not so nice car.
There you have it, the cat is out of the bag, so to speak.
I will keep you posted on what is going on. I believe the auction is ending this Sunday and I have a person from NC coming to look at the car tomorrow.

I don't know how long you have pondered this decision but damn I hate to see you sell if before you enjoy it some. Once she gets a few imperfections here and there the newness will wear off and you may just change your mind. By the way the car looks great on fleabay.
Good luck.

I tried to rush and get it on eBay while BJ was going so the pictures posted are old. I have not had the weather to get new ones...as in with the front bumper actually on the car. Put it on last night and it is a little rainy here today.
Hopefully I will get some tomorrow.

digital camera does not do that great of a job and I only snap pictures when I drive it to work. Steve I will make you a deal, fly into Charlotte and come to the Year One event. You can stay with me and we will ride down for the weekend. On second thought, for a little ink I may have to buy you a plane ticket and get you the first shots of Jimmy Johnson's 67 camaro.
I thought the auction ended last night...I guess it ends tonight.
I drove it a lot this weekend and had a ball, not that I have never NOT enjoyed driving it. I still have not gotten use to all of the attention the car gets. People honking horns and yelling all of the time makes me think I am about to be hit, so it gets me a little jumpy. A quick gas stop turns into a 30 minute question and answer session. The corvette runflats are useless in 1st and 2nd gear.
I really enjoy the building process almost as much as the final product. I think a lot of you on the board are the same way. Everyone wants to see updated build pics during the build, after it is done everyone is ready for the new latest and greatest build, myself included.
I doubt that it is going to sell and I am only listing it this one time. So plan on seeing me at Year One, Power Tour and RTTH 3.
I am already planning a few upgrades for next winter! It is a sickness I tell you.

Payton, that car looks awesome:thumbsup: What color code is that?

Viper yellow. Sprayed a white sealer before we shot it. I went to shows for 4 yeasrs trying to decide on a color of yellow. Everytime I saw one that I thought was perfect it was Viper Yellow...
I don't have to tell you this, but the color gets darker spayed on a grey than on the white. To me the white base really makes it pop. In direct sunlight it will make you squint.

on my face when the auction was over. I almost pulled it a few times.
I am glad to have all this selling non-sense behind me. I can now drive it the way I want to without wondering if I should have sold it. With 2 kids, a wife and a business, it would have taken me another 6 years to do another car just from lack of time. With those of you that have kids you know how time consuming basketball, soccer and baseball can be.
So, the first show I will be going to is the Year One event. I guess I need to contact the DMV and get a legal tag on the car. I have been running around with an expired Arkansas tag 07/2001 and have not been caught yet....
Thanks for all of the support and information that I have picked up from everone here over the years. It has meant a lot to me.

Payton, congrats on the....no sell. LOL!!!
I am with you on the time constraints with family. I am scrambling to get my car down for RTTH4 in September partly because I want to be an integral part of that fantastic event but mostly because I just want to finally put this almost 8 year odyssey to bed. My wife wants it finished, my kids want it finished. I'm just tired of it occupying my thoughts and my time.
I'm glad the car is going to be staying with you. I can't wait to see it and meet you at RTTH4. You've been a big help to me in the past.

Man if you didn't really want to sell it you must of been nervous! Your car got higher than almost any pro touring car I have seen on ebay. Makes me feel better about my investment. Have fun driving your car.

Holy Schnikes, anyone want to buy my car for $85K??

with me because they knew I did not want it to sell. They bid it up on the last day to where it finished. They knew my reserve was $85,000 and I was not moving on that price, so they were calling me saying "look its going to sell." I was sweating bullets because I thought I was going to loose my car. Payback is coming to them. The last real bid I had before they started messing with me was $74,000.
I had another party interested in the car back in June before it was completed and we had agreed on $90,000. When it was completed in November snow was on the ground where he lived and he passed on the car.
I have been in a great mood today and can't wait to leave work in a few minutes and go drive.
