Joe,

I have 06 GTO with a maggie. Absolutely love the car. I am waiting on the manual G8's to hit...supposed to be in 09. Finally a 4 door family sedan with a manual that has some grunt.

It may not fit the traditional definition of a true "musclecar" but...My daily driver is a 300C SRT8 (6.1) Hemi

Dead stock, you get 425HP, sub-5 second 0-60, 171 MPH top speed, gotta love it...

Mustang is a pony car and the new gto shares nothing with the old gto besides its name. The 300 is out too its a 4 door and lacks power.

lacks power??? you seem to not like any of these. do you have something better that will fit this category?

.....lacks power.

So, if 425 hp dead stock isn't enough....how much would it need to have before it would no longer be considered "lacking"?

The GTO is a bit lacking in style, but more than makes up for it in the sizzle dept. I wouldn't mind having one. I like the 300C as well, but I'm not a fan of the Charger, they look nice, but too many doors.

I wish that Pontiac or Saturn would shove an LS something into the Solstice or Sky, THAT I might spend money on.

The GTO has an LS2 with a Magnacharger, the C6Z has a filter and tune, 479rwhp. You gotta love modern muscle.

I have a newer Mustang GT and want to try and snag a 2008 Challenger when they hit the streets. I love new muscle as a DD.

I've got an '05 Mustang GT with a ProCharger, Borla exhaust with an offroad x-pipe, 3.90 gears, Eibach springs, Tokico D-Spec adjustable shocks, AP Racing brakes, and a couple of other mods. I love it! Very comfortable to drive, tons of power, and it looks pretty decent too.

It's tough to compare it to a classic muscle car though because it just doesn't feel, smell, or drive quite like one. I don't mind though since, I drive mine almost daily.

Here's a pic or two:

Here's my everyday daily driver. In it's day the fox body Mustang or "5.0" was a very potent pony car. As a matter of fact, in a Road and Track issue they compared a stripped down 5.0 notch against a highly optioned IROC Z 350 and the notch owned the Camaro in the 1/4 mile by 2/10s of a second. Not bad for having 48 less cubes!
All I've done as far as horsepower goes is added a 2.5" catback. More mods come later. I spent most of my money on the brakes, suspension, and wheel/tire combo so far. Last weekend my buddy and I did a complete 99-04 SN95 5 lug 4-wheel disc brake conversion, new rear w/ 3.73 gears, tubular upper and lower control arms, Eibach 2" drop springs, 5 way adjustable billet caster camber plates, 17x8 bullitt wheels and 245/45/17 Z rated tires. The sway bars and subframe conectors are on the way via the "brown truck". Eventually the wheels and tires will be swapped out for something different but I had these laying around. I may just put a 17x9 with a 275 out back and call it a day. Again, daily driver - keep it reasonable.
My goal is a balanced car that handles, brakes, along with good power - hey like pro-touring! I haven't driven it yet but hope to soon to see the difference.
The gols tape stripe will be replaced with a black one as soon as the weather warms up!
As I have said it many times before, wheel's/tires and stance can change the whole attitude of your ride.

The '06 GTO has the Australian Holden nose conversion, along with twin-turbos. 550 rwhp and still gets 25 mpg.

The '02 Firehawk is stock (except wheels/rotors) with 9K miles on it. They only built 16 of them like this, so it is going to stay mostly stock as long as I own it.

The '06 Viper is pretty much a "modern musclecar" as you can get. It is bare bones, nothing fancy inside, and has a 510ci engine.

I don't know if my car counts as 'late model muscle' since it's already 12 years old, but since I've had it for 11 of those 12 years It sometimes doesn't seem that old through my eyes.

Before there was navigation, blue tooth, and onboard hard drives just for your audio listening enjoyment....There was the LT1 Camaro Z/28. Factory equipped with 285 horsepower, leather, and a positraction....This car was a few modifications away from knocking on a Corvette's door.

Now, Add a little camshaft, a set of headers, a gear swap. Withdraw 25 grand or so from your checking account, and Walla! You have the makings of the baddest ass $6,000 car of the planet!!!
