Border Collies by nature are work dogs. They need a job. Whether its hunting food or coralling sheep, they need to keep busy, otherwise they go nuts and tear things up. Such as shoes and couches.
I realized that i need a job, a purpose. I need to keep busy. Or i go stir crazy and for the past 4ish years, the camaro has kept me busy. But now that it's done, i need something else to do. I am in the process of creating some custom lamp shades for the wife, but that will be done soon and i need a new long term project.
So, here's my ideas for a new project. Suggestions welcome.
1968-69 Camaro Penske race car replica. Not a real one, similar paint and interior but lots of go fast(er) parts
1949 Chevy truck - daily driver type, parts hauler blasting Waylend Jennings
1965 Malibu... just for fun.
1965 Daytona coupe from Superformance (lofty goal, i dont have that much cash right now)
1979-81 Malibu 2 door G-machine...
that's all i could come up with now... any ideas? What animal are you? :D

I like the Trans-Am Camaro idea but the Penske car has been done before... how about a pro-touring version of the black & gold Smokey Yunick #13 car?

The smokey car i've always wanted to do.
I guess i'd have to research paint schemes and what not to create my own and make it look authentic.
btw, i dont have any serious $$ right now to buy any of these cars or projects, but i definately need a goal to work towards.

How about the Smokey Chevelle ? It had a ton of trick mods back in the day - that are standard issue now (well, maybe everything except that 7/8 scale thing...). Pro-tour that with all new current tube chassis/LS/C6 stuff ?

i love that the 78-79 malibu found its way onto that exclusive list of cars... (but im biased: http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=12781) i think that bill howel will agree with me on this one.. it requires a stubborn enthusiast to sink that kind of money into a car that atleast for the time being has no real intrinsic resale value....
the safe bet is the 1.gen... and i happen to like the yunick car better than the penske... but if you really are a border collie.. you wont find it that sattisfying to build a "bolt together" car.. i mean you can buy everything for them.. everybody is goung to second guess your desicions on parts and it propably wont be that personally gratifying to have somone gawk at a car that is as personal as a swingset-- save for the paint and choice of wheels (im propaply stepping on some toes here... but id much rather have libbys 67 fairlane than half of the 1.gens on this board)
The 65 malibu is also fairly safe and less mainstream...
as for new suggestions
66 impala SS
61 tempest 2dr on a new chassis with lsx power...

Being a border collie doesnt necessary preclude me to making custom changes to the car. Being one just means keeping busy and having a purpose to what i'm doing. Although, customizing a car is fun, no doubt.

Do the truck. You already have a super nice car. IMHO a beater looking truck with cool tricks hidden inside would be a blast to drive, and would help avoid having to get all anal about pretty paint and all the other stuff we get anal about when doing a "nice" car.
Cheaper too (at least in theory).

If you watch much TV - and want to be really cheap, you could get a backpack or saddle bags and fill it full of water bottles and go for long walks....
(those who don't watch Dog Whisperer are scratching your heads right now)

I'd say do the truck idea. I have been kicking around the same idea of getting a old truck to DD and fix up. I've seen a few decent ones for not a whole truckload of money.

what if you just started to build up a second motor for your car, like maybe an LS/LQ motor with a nice big cam, and some custom intake of your own design (ITB anyone...)
personally, if i was gonna start another project, that would be it. and i mean when its finished, you could always then decide to either throw it into your camaro, or maybe even buy some other cheapo car to toss it in for fun.

I say you work on cars for your fellow LG members who don't have as much time as you do.
By the way, mine available.

Hey, you stole the plan for my 68! Modern pro-touring suspension and running gear underneath, vintage trans-am styling on top. Should be really fun to drive, while retaining that great classic racecar look.
Of course, my idea isn't totally unique and there are plenty of vintage trans-am cars to model after, so build away! :D
