Thought I would start a new thread since the car is back home from Race Rodz. Chris did an awesome job on it and I'm very stoked! He drove all day to deliver it but got stuck in traffic and by the time we unloaded it it was dark out so today you get garage pics. He's on his way home now...300 more miles and he will be home!!

The color is awesome and I can't wait to roll it out into the sun! It needs a bath as there's still some compound here and there on it...but it looks awesome anyways! As you can see we couldn't wait to put the Fikse's on! The gaps on the car are awesome as well as the spoiler!

Thanks Chris for an awesome job!

BTW, that's Chris' dad and I in the first pic and Chris and I in the second pic...great guys! Also, Rob (96z28ss) stopped by, his car will be heading down to Race Rodz in a couple months...I think '08 will be a great year for Chris!

The paint is cool. I think your car is unique, and will be timeless!

Thanks! Timeless is exactly what I wanted/need as I'm not a rich man and need a car that will 'fit in' for many years to come! We figure that I can change the wheels if styles change...but the main car is timeless enough to last a very long time.

Here's a pic of me with my son Bryce seeing it for the first time, I was asking him if he liked it...the answer, YES!! With a big grin! :D

Ok I'm home from work and it's still here looking hot!! :)

Mario, No it's not that GM color you are talking about...in fact it's not even domestic.

I hope to get it drivable this summer...but it has to be done early fall!!

Thanks again everyone for the kind words, Chris and I truely appreciate it!! Hopefully this car will put Race Rodz on the map...Chris is very tallented and deserves much success!!

I hope to get some outdoor pics this weekend if it has a break in the weather.

Also I will put my pics in my photobucket so you can see better images.

Thanks again everyone!! :lateral:

You must have drooled for hours when everyone left.Congrats buddy now lets get it fired up!!!!!

Why do I think that Jen is gonna be feeling lonely soon, being that both her boys are gonna be hiding in the garage all the time.... And then she'll shock you by wanting to be the one to start the motor for the first time.

Yeah Bryce loves to be out there...but to be honest it's hard to trust a 3 yr old with a painted car...simply gonna have to limit his garage time I guess?

I think she deserves to be the one to start the motor the first time...she's been one hell of an understanding wife threw all this! :)

Well it stopped raining for a little while so I rolled it out and hosed off some reamaining polishing compound and spray mask that was on the black surfaces. I must say this is a crazy color to photograph due to all the pearl in it. Looked killer sitting outside...happy days!

Also I want to mention that we used Prodigy's SS fastener kit on the car, it's a very nice and complete kit!

I took more pics yeasterday before I hosed it down and it started raining before I could take more...so these will have to do. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee259/awr68/IMG_02351.jpg
Ready for assembly!!

Dave the interior will stay semi-stock with exception of Sparco seats w/ back seat recovered to match, custom dash, Lokar hand e-brake, vintage air, cut pile carpet w/ matching floor mats from ACC, ect.

Thanks for all the kind words guys! Haven't done much to the car yet waiting for some more parts to roll in...but they are showing up just about daily now!!

I didn't want to loose the styling of the dash, but had to package more than stock would allow. I cut the whole center out and started over. The unpainted area is all new and hand build...then butt welded in. Notice there isn't an ash tray and I moved the head unit up for an easier reach. It's all painted now of course, but will be a while before I install all the parts for the final time. Here's a close up of the work area. I'm sure a pro could have gotten more creative, but I'm happy with it!! :)

Thanks Paul!
I love the seats! Very high quality, they recline using an infinate dial, and flip forward...a must with kids!

I got all my Sparco gear and seat mounts from Jim @ http://www.motorsportseats.com/ He gives all our members a nice discount!

My first trip to SEMA I was on a mission to find a seat for this car...at the end of the week I found my self back where I started, the Sparco booth...go figure! But at least I felt better about the purchase!

Ok, figured it was just easier to take new pics of the AME roll bar. I opted for the bent down bars and I used a Chris Alston swing-out kit on the harness bar. I actually ordered an 8 point roll bar but decided against using the door bars and tubes that install at the rear passenger's feet...this is a family car after all...got to keep it comfy and usable...yeah right! :_paranoid

Thanks! The main hoop is tilted a little and inline with what would be the 'B' piller and is very hard to see (froma side view) when the quarter window is up...owe that idea to Stielow! And I wanted full use of the trunk so I installed the down bars as far forward as possible.

Thanks Steve, that means a lot! I thought about angling them to the driver a little but that makes it harder for a co-pilot to read, this way everyone has good visability.

So, another '68 in the near future? That a boy!!

Looks great....Frank and the boys are finishing my roll bar up later this week and I am not sure about the cross bar yet. I am thinking it would be nice if I ever want to road race it and use racing harnesses. I, like you wanted to keep the back seat usable incase I do want to go out to dinner with a friend and the ladies. I also think it's a plus for resale. I like your idea about the bar lining up with the quarter window trim.
