Anyone know of some good shops around Hayward that are reputable and fair. Also, if they're cheaper, that would be dynamite. I think I cooked my head gasket on the drive from Winnipeg to California. I understand that you get what you pay for, but I just moved down to Hayward for school, and I got some bad news from my Neon(slighly milky appearance in the oil, sweet smell when the heat is on, and slight stumbling at idle - tell me I'm wrong, please). Anyways, I like being able to talk to the person about the work rather than just getting a car back that I trust is fixed. Any help would be great.

Try Rick Weldon at PR Motorsports in Hayward. He has a nice shop and used to do all my rx-7 race stuff. His number is (510) 786-0851. He does all kinds of work and would be able to help you.

Thanks very much. I will give that a shot. As an addendum, it's just a stocker, so I hope I won't be wasting the time of an auto genius on a little Neon.

He mostly does stock stuff, he does the racing stuff on the side.

You can also give us at Goodies Speedshop a call. We're a one stop shop for you right now.

Well, he did say "around Hayward", as well as reputable and fair, and we are reputable and fair, and only about 20 minutes from Hayward.

ouch. lol. I second on Goodies. I called today to talk about getting some rims. I was told the guy that handles that department was out and he would give me a call back. I start thinking, alright I'll have to call back tomorrow because they will forget me. An hour later, I get a call from a friendly guy who seems happy to help me out. Great experience. Placing my order tomorrow . Im excited to get to see their shop. I hear they have some nice stuff up there.

That would probably be Rich. He's our wheel/tire specialist. And yes, he's always willing to get the right wheels for you.

I second the positive experience with Goodies Speed Shop post above. I took my 68 Camaro to Goodies for some dyno tuning and while at the shop they found some other work that needed to be done. They fit that work into their schedule, did a great job with that unplanned work as well as the dyno tuning and the price was very reasonable. So, I would recommend Goodies to anyone.

dsyryr,

My camaro is also a carb'ed car. Goodies charged me about $300.00 for many hours on their chassis dyno. They made several runs and changed jets, timing, etc. Paul, their service manager, has been dyno tuning cars for many, many years and is a wiz. At the end of the day, they had my camaro making 638 ft. lbs. of tourque and 593 HP at the rear wheels and running smoother than ever. Great shop.

Take care,
Chris
