This month's Feature car is Rick's ZO66 Vette. It's a beatiful ride, and one that gets driven hard. If you made it to Year One or SEMA, then you've seen just how cool this car is.

Thanks Rick! Awesome Vette!

I want to than Scott for the feature on Ricks Corvette, Rick and I are both excited and honored. I really need to thank Rick for giving us the opportunity to do such a killer car. With 30 years of car building approaching and more cars then I can remember under my belt, this is no doubt in my top ten favorite cars I have even done. The car is such a total package of a frighteningly power full lightweight package, sinister aggressive looks, yet classy enough to park in front of the country club.
Rick and Jen, your way up there on my top 10 list of customers, what a great couple to work for. I cannot wait to get started on your Camaro.

Thanks again,

Great looking car!

I have a question though, When I first saw it I thought it was a '67 Vette.

Aren't the front fenders and the hood off of a '67 Vette?

'66's had 3 vents behind the front tires and the, "Stinger" hood came out in '67. The '67 had five vents behind the front wheel, while the'66 had three.

I know it's an anal statement, but the '67 is the other car after a 69 Camaro that I would want to own. I've been lusting over them for a long time.

'67 Vette

I'm sure I'm not telling anyone anything new, but I had to ask.

We decided since we had to rebody it to restyle the body with the more popular 67 fenders and hood

Frank:

That's what I figured, I would have done the same thing.

It really is a class act. Maybe someday I'll be in a financial position, and he'll be tired of it and want it to go to a good home.:unibrow:

That would be the exact type of car I would want. Keeping things stock and pure, really is boring to me. I appreciate them, but I'm not sure I would want to own one.

I've got a '65 Riviera with ALL the paperwork (Build slip, order slip, purchase paperwork, window sticker, the plastic authentication card?, all repair work, gas milage for the 55K miles on it, etc. etc.), and I'm struggling with stock, but it kills be because it literally could be a high point show car with a decent restoration as all the parts are there. (I inherited it from my Grandfather)

It's a good color combination Blk/Blk. Decently optioned. It has the 425 signal 4 barrel, but the dealer had a "Hot Cam" for it that he bought and had installed before it was picked up. I've heard this a 1000 times but I really never understood the meaning of it. The called it a 3/4 Big Cam. Can you help with that?

The damn thing will really roast the tires. It's funny he bought a Sears, "Die Hard", battery back in the 60's with a life time warrantee. I bet he got 20 batteries out of Sears before he passed away. He died in 2003.

Anyway, thanks for the follow up information.

Hope you have a Great 2008!

Ty

BTW: Any comments on the, "3/4 Cam", and thoughts on the Riv. would be appreciated.

We have a couple Rivs, a 64 dual quad car and a 65. The 64 is DONE! motor is complete though and lots of good trim. The 65 is buidable and needs everything. 3/4 cam is slang for cams in the day. Storys of why they are called 3/4 vary.

If you ever decide to sell it...........

I doubt I'll sell it, but I may need a hand putting it in good shape.

BTW: How much does a Buick 425, 2X4 intake, carbs, linkage, and Air Cleaner Go for?

I saw one on ebay currently, but it is REALLY expensive. Any idea of the price on a set up like this?

I've been emailing with the guy about buying it as a package deal, I just don't know what to offer.

I figure I could always build another 425 to drive around in and save the numbers matching engine for safe keeping.

Thanks,

Ty

I saw a restored one sell for $2300 with no air cleaner. I saw a ROUGH one sell for $1500 and no air cleaner. I saw a good air cleaner bring $400, I saw a killer one birng $1000. Very expensive car to build, $10,000 chrome project.

Now back to the Vette, LOL!

Oh Yeah, and driven it is.

Here is a little 100MPH blast video. I found out when I got back to the shop on this little Saturday cruise we had a leak in one of the interooling connections, so we were only making 2LBS boost. I always short shift it to as not to kill someones else car, LOL! But this will give you a feel for the sound. Just imagine it is off 150HP here. I will get a new full boost video soon
