I think my project is different & that’s why I chose this car to build.
It’s a ’71-’73 Mustang Fastback
This is my 1st rendering I’ve drawn just to give you an idea. (this is the 1st drawing I've done since high school)

I love the 62, but i would love to do a 55 Cadillac coupe de ville. I know of one just sitting up here in northern california, never seems to go any where. I would love to see a 5000lb land yatch showing up cars half the size. I would say the thing that work against you would be the long wheel base and weight. Its just a idea I had and some may not agree with it but oh well.

How are you handling after market brakes on the stock spindles? Or
are you using a different spindle? I saw from your web site that you're
keeping the frame/suspension mostly stock (with the Nascar heritage
duly noted), but companies like Baer & Wilwood don't support galaxies.
Are you using Mustang/Granada spindles? TIA.

I know this isn't protouring, but the car was on air and with some serious mods this car could have been. This was my brothers car when he was 18-19 and I was 13-14 at the time. When I have the envision of building a pro touring caddy it's that body style. The car was ahead of its time interms of bagged caddys at the time. (2000-2001 circa) The car was bagged, body dropped 8 inches in the trunk area,4 inches in the trans tunnel, and 2 inches in the floor. It sat on 20 inch mondera davanti's,and had two 1950 buick super grills made in two one. (13 teeth in total)
We pulled up in front of your booth in 2001 at the august west coast nationals and laid the car out and Ill never forget everyones faces. It made the company dually look like it was lifted. The air ride stuff is for a way different purpose though. Air ride is handling and going low, not laying your rockers on the ground and going dragging. The car had terrible handling and rode terrible, but I miss the car because It brought my brother and I together.

I am building a 1962 chrysler imperial convertible. I almost hate to call it pro touring but it is more pro touring inspired. It is pretty rare one of 514 made so I dont want to do anything too drastic. I am looking into making up a big brake setup I would like c5 brakes but may go with some from a newer dodge daytona pickup since it is the same lug pattern. I am going to do some basic suspension mods to tighten things up. also looking into wheels and tires. I guess it would be kinda more of a retro mod if you had to call it anything. either way it's just something you dont see very many of.

Radlark- It is on bags from airride. As I said I built it about 6 or more years ago. It has the big red valves w/4 switches and large tank and compressor up on spare tire shelf in truck. It actually improved the handling over stock!! The Hotchkis stuff is upper and lower rear trailing arms and front swaybar. If I was doing it now I would probably do the shockwave if they have them for it. They are a good product.
Thanks to the rest for the nice comments.

We did all the fab work on a 52 caddy a few years ago with all global west stuff with coilovers and a four link. It had a ramjet 502.
We are working on a chopped 49 caddy fastback with a 2007 blown northstar with XLR suspension. It is pretty bad ass. I'm working with Fikse on some super cool wheels for it right now.
Neil Lea in Centre Alabama is doing bubble top for James Eudy, it will have an all aluminum 409 with a Procharger on it. It has a morrison chassis and it might be in Columbus this summer.
We are working on 4 67 chevelle currently or they are on the board for future work currently. So Full size Pro-touring is alive and well.

I don't know if you could do it economically (there's just not that many galaxies),
but I have to think there would be a market for an adapter for something
common, like PBR calipers, to stock galaxie spindles.
The stock (65-67) Kelsey-Hayes 4 piston calipers are really good,
but few galaxies have the disc brake option (who wants disc brakes on
a 2 ton car?!). The common swap has traditionally been from 77-79 T-birds,
but those can't be easy to find anymore either.
While I'm ruminating... nobody makes a *easy* drop spindle for
early mustangs/fairlanes/falcons/etc. Fat Man makes a drop spindle
based on the granada, but you have to source parts from the junk yard, etc.
Not "easy".

Snubby? That is a cabover with a blown big block for a guy in Hawaii. The big block goes behind the cab. It is more like trying help an injured puppy back to life. That truck was cut up by a guy with one leg longer then the other because the roof and door were miles off. We are having to redo everything. I never understand how somebody could think a door that does not shut is acceptable work. The customer had no idea either, I noticed the roof being off before we got it off the trailer.

By the way we are developing a new front kit for the 65-70's that will consist of a larger tubular lower control arm that eliminates the strut rod along with a new sway bar with posi link end links. It will never handle like a smaller car, but I still dig the look of my LCC. We used this to prototype a kit for the Lincolns, so it has all our ART goodies (including some electronic stuff I can't show off yet!)
Since the kit was designed I picked up a 5.4L supercharged motor and trans out of a Ford Lightning. It's not in the car yet, but it's cold outside so I can't drive it anyway. Like I said, at 5500lbs, it'll never out handle a Vette; but top down cruising is a nice respite from driving all Bret's cars.

Leno's Toronado certainly qualifies. I'm always disappointed in a car like that though that is a top notch build and gets a lot of press, then you never see it again. From all the articles I read they wrung it out one day at the test track , but doesn't sound like it was ever fully proved.
I would love to do a rear drive full chassis (stock they are FWD) '68+ El Dorado in black, but the only way I can justify the expense and time to do it right is to drive the car a lot when its done, and with the fuel situation I am just not looking at doing 5500 lb cars with big block motors anymore.

The plan is for a C6 based suspension (no transaxle) optimized for serious road course duty with a bored and stroked 650 hp 427 cid LT5 with a 6 speed manual. Not sure if anyone makes them already for the 1/4 mile guys, but a carbon fiber hood, fenders and trunk lid would be a good idea for these land yachts-:)
Allkar did a lot of chop work for me and really did a great job of nailing the look I want.

John,
Funny you should mention AWD...
I thought of that because of the cars you referred to having that edge, but I haven't looked into it because I have never heard it used in a racing application for a car this size.
I have it on my Buick Rainier V8 AWD and what I like about it is you don't know its there, but you feel surefooted all the time.

Love them and the abbreviated quarter trim to clear the wheelwell is slick too! Looks like your biggest problem will be picking a color(s)! I'd love to see a few other subtle P/T styling cues peppered around that car to surprise people. Maybe a unique grille treatment, hood vents, spoiler or a diffuser coming through the rear bumper??? Jason,
The plan is to add some of the P-T styling components you mentioned.
Not the easiest car to make some of those things work on. Rad Rides '62 'Chicayne' used those items you mentioned and they really flowed with Chevy's original design.
I also agree with the less is more philosphy, like Roy Brizio does whose car was used for the chops. I included it so you can really see the changes. The only thing we didn't finish was having the rear chrome trim strip line up with the ridge line on the front fender. The sky blue chop with the graphite wheels centers (borrowed from Dale Jr's Camaro) has that mod.

Nate,
What a work of art!
Much better pictures than at corpala.com which I've visited several times.
Any more you can post of the nuts and bolts of your company's car would be great.

I'm putting togther an estimate for a 67 chevelle wagon with a aluminum brodix 632 and ATS and global west suspension with coilovers.

There's talk of DW Motorsports doing a 67 Wagon soon too. Jason Rushforth is working on a rendering....

Oh, OK. I see how it is. One broke-ass magazine guy screws together a halfway decent '67 Chevelle 4-door wagon and now that it's finally on the road, there'll be a slew of big dollar, super pretty, mega-powerful '67 4-door wagons invading the P-T scene to make me and my sorry ass wagon look bad.
In the words of Eric Cartman...
Screw you guys; I'm going home.

I think I've posted this on here a couple of times... We built this 63 that uses all C6 drivetrain and suspension, and is powered by an LS7. I want to build a similar 67/68 Buick Electra 225 someday.

61 Bel Air baby! one of these days when Pro Tour is considered an old fad it might see the light of day!
I'm getting ready to start a '61 Bel Air too. I'm just starting to work out the details, but it will be a Pro Touring set up. Hopefully done in '09, we'll see. I can't wait for Pro Touring to become an old fad, I'm already there!

I call it more of a pro cruiser but I have a 71 mercury cougar xr7 convertible with a fi 5.0 and aod lowered, just purchased a procharger, 347 stroker kit aluminum heads, cobra intake and x-303 cam I will be building the motor this winter hopefuly installing it this spring I am also installing a 4 link with coil overs and Ron morris coil overs for the front and also 6 piston brembos for the front and a 8.8 with rear disc out of a 91 mark vii. Lots going on with it. I also recently picked up a 61 olds 88 bubbletop that i'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or let it go.

I love this car!!
Thank you guys! This remains one of my favorites I've built. This was the owners first "hot rod". He drives the hell out of it too. We are looking into changing it a bit this year so the car doesnt get "stale" or "old".

I would be really surprised if Pro Touring becomes an, "Old Fad", because it is a logical evolution of the, "Sports Car".
Some of the nuances of Pro Touring might be considered a Fad someday, but I personally think Pro Touring is a, "Concept", more than a, "Style". Certain types of colors, styles of wheels, interior layouts etc. are always variable, but improving the performance of a car is timeless. It has been around as long as the Car itself.
Pro Touring to me is all about cutting edge technology being used in older automotive platforms. It's like a Black Tux, improving performance never goes out of style.
Colors, Striping and other Style oriented facets of the, "Pro Touring", Trend will probably be considered a possible fad someday, but even as far as Styling is Concerned, True Classy presentations rarely go out of style.
For example colors: Basic Red, Black, Silver, White and Yellow are baseline solid, "Timeless", colors like I mentioned before, a "Black" Tux is Timeless.
What are your thoughts?
